Given the COVID-19 pandemic, the new feature will initially focus on content directed toward wellness and self-care.
Instagram has announced a new feature. Called ‘Guides’, it is a way for users “to more easily discover recommendations, tips and other content from your favorite creators, public figures, organizations and publishers on Instagram”.
Through the Guides feature, creators will be able to team up with organisations to help spread and share resources. Given the current focus on the coronavirus, the current Guides will include tips on how to take care of one’s well-being, manage grief and anxiety, and maintain connections with others.
Starting today, you can check out Guides – a new way to discover recommendations from people on Instagram. 🙌
The first Guides focus on wellness and mental health content from respected organizations and creators. ❤️

In order to view a participating creator’s Guide, users will need to visit their profile and tap on the middle icon. From there, they’ll be able to view previously shared videos and posts that the creator has curated, “paired with helpful tips and advice”.
Guides can be shared to one’s Story or via direct message by tapping on the ‘Share’ button, located in the upper right corner of the screen.
Instagram plans to enable access to Guides via the Explore tab in the coming days.
