#ShaneDawsonIsOverParty has been trending on Twitter again.
In a climate where nearly ever creator has been cancelled at some point, a hashtag claiming someone is ‘over’ is certainly nothing new. If we’re being honest, we’re over saying that creators are over. It’s a broken record.
But in the latest witch hunt, the internet has once again come for Shane Dawson. Tweets on the hashtag seem to focus on actions which Shane has apologised for multiple times over the years, including some jokes he previously made on his channel around race and beastiality.
Some fans have commented at their anger over him being friends with Trisha Paytas, after she came for people with dissociative identity disorder (but that is a whole different article for another time).
Shane has also been criticised for his friendship with Jeffree Star. The pair recently revealed new Shane x Jeffree Products.
Some hawk-eyed followers on Twitter spotted the trend has been labelled as ‘KPop’, which may suggest that members of that community have been sharing the hashtag most and caused it to trend.

Fans have come to the defence of Shane, arguing that he has apologised for mistakes in his past and that he is a different person now than he once was.
While many fans have been quick to defend Shane, others have claimed that fans let things slide and pander to their favourite creators when they should be held accountable. “All this noise for him to drop an note app apology for whatever he did this time and y’all go and suck his ass again”, one user commented on Twitter.

“We have this happen every month, yall know the shit hes done wrong in the past and current but for whatever reason, yall keep letting him and jeffree star slide EVERY time”, said another.
Meanwhile, those people on the fence (or who really can’t be bothered with the drama and just want to go back to playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons) have also spoken out.
Look folks getting this #ShaneDawsonIsOverParty trending again over something he addressed, apologized for years ago, does nothing. Youtube back i2010-2015 era was completely different, edgy content is what sold regardless of how offensive it may be. Move the fuck on.

“We cancel someone everyday can y’all please stfu”, one fan said on Twitter. “how many times have yall done this”, commented another.
Whatever happens, we’re starting the clock on the next time Shane is cancelled. We give it maybe 3 weeks? At a push?
