The memorial fund reached its goal of $150,000 after receiving support from creators.
Many creators have paid tribute to Corey La Barrie who tragically died after a car accident on 10 May. The LA-based YouTuber passed away on his 25th birthday, as a result of a fatal accident with ‘Ink Master’ star Daniel Silva.
Since the accident a Memorial Fund has been set up via GoFundMe to financially support Corey’s immediate family. $38,000 was raised in the first 24 hours and now the $150,000 goal has been surpassed.
“While we may not be able to release Corey’s family of their emotional burdens, we can come together and do what we can to relieve them of some of the financial hardship and what will be a new reality to exist in”, the memorial fund page reads.
Corey’s cousin Ashley La Barrie started the page. She wrote: “We would like to truly thank Corey’s friends and supporters for their outpouring of love and generosity thus far. It’s truly a beautiful thing to witness.”
With over 8,400 donors within the first 48 hours, many of Corey’s close friends have donated to the cause. Both JC Caylen and Kian Lawley each donated $2,500; Corey starred in their series Reality House and they were close friends.
Kian shared on Instagram his tribute to the late YouTuber and also took to twitter to encourage people to donate to the memorial fund.
Kian is also among the many creators to change their profile pictures to a blue colour in order to raise awareness for drink driving.
Crawford Collins, who donated $1,000 to the GoFundMe page, share his tribute on twitter: “I take comfort in knowing how many people you impacted positively in such a short time and because of that your legacy will live forever.”
BryanT also took to twitter to encourage as many people as possible to donate to and share the Memorial Fund. “Anything helps,” he urged.
