The feature is reportedly set for release toward the end of the third quarter.
Digiday is reporting that TikTok is currently working on a new augmented reality – “AR” – advertising format, according to those with knowledge of the situation.
The new feature would allow users to add new, interactive visual effects from the app’s advertisers to their videos. The effects will interact with the surrounding physical environment.
The effects will also be clickable and will feature music that plays during the video.
As the feature is only in development, the Q3 release date is only tentative. It is currently unknown what its pricing will be.
TikTok has been working to better its relationship with advertisers over the past few months, with the testing of a new “Shop Now” button and the introduction of its “Small Gestures” feature.
