The feature was first launched on Android in June 2019 and will be available on iPhones and computers “in the coming weeks”.
In a tweet confirming the news, YouTube said “Topics give you more control over videos that show on Home & Up Next, by matching your suggested videos to whichever topic you tap.”
It follows the initial announcement of the tool last year, in which the platform said will show users options “based on your existing personalized suggestions”, with the aim of helping users “find what [they’re] looking for faster”.
“They could be videos related to the one you’re watching, videos published by the channel you’re watching, or other topics which may be of interest to you,” YouTube said in a blog post.
Rolling out in the coming weeks: Topics give you more control over the videos that show on Home & Up Next, by matching your suggested videos to whichever topic you tap.

The feature’s launch formed part of a wider update from the social media platform around suggestions, including the option to remove specific videos and find out more about why a piece of content was recommended by the algorithm.
YouTube has since confirmed that alongside the tool rolling out on iOS and desktop, it will be available in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
