The feature is the latest in a series of in-video buttons the app has worked to develop since the start of the year.
Digiday is reporting that TikTok is currently working to develop a new “Shop Now” button that the app’s influencers can place within their videos.
According to the website, a source familiar with the situation shares that creators would be able to display the call-to-action button in their videos, and is said to be new way for advertisers to link up with TikTok’s more prominent influencers.
The ad revenue earned through the use of the button will be split between TikTok and the creator. While the revenue-share split has yet to be determined, the source says it will likely be a 20/80 split in TikTok’s favour.
The app’s “Shop Now” button is currently available to all advertisers in order to help drive traffic to their websites, but is said to be different and separate from the one currently in beta. TikTok has been allowing some of its more popular creators to add e-commerce links to their videos and profile bios since November 2019.
Currently, the button is still in the early stages of development and, as such, is only available to a select number of agencies and advertisers.
