We’ve all got a huge soft spot for Evan Edinger here at TenEighty HQ. He’s a natural in front of the camera and never fails to put a smile on our faces. With echoes of the YouTube of old, Evan’s channel is developing so wonderfully every year to house some maturer and almost candid topics, alongside the fun and whimsy we love. Evan’s really growing into a confident creator and we love to see it.
In celebration for no reason other than we want to, here are just a handful of reasons why we’ve got space in our hearts for this tall American!
King of puns
We mean, where else could we start? If we had a quid for every pun dropped into a video or social post, well… We’d all be millionaires.
Pun work is easily Evan’s forte. Whether it’s pre-written or within a natural conversation, they’re consistently quick-witted and delivered with just the right amount of cheese that it’s impossible to not love them! It’d be easy to fall into a trap of recycling puns or just using cliche punchlines, but Evan proves his comedic chops with his creativity, and lands the gag with a hint of “I got away with that” charm that sets him apart from every other vlogger.
Who’s got the best humour?
Sorry, Evan, but it’s us Brits!
The British VS American series is top notch, but this episode is by far our favourite. We’ve discussed already that Evan is the master of puns, but the debate of whether British or American humour is best is something we feel the need to comment on. Evan and Luke Cutforth breakdown the differences and similarities, and how each style reflects the stereotypes and culture. It’s one of the best discussions about comedy, which flows easily with Evan and Luke’s clear passion they have for the genre.

When he’s our dream travel buddy
Is there anywhere he hasn’t visited? Okay, this isn’t a moment, but a theme of moments.
We love watching Evan’s travel diaries on his second channel, Evan Edinger Travel. (Yes, we’re disappointed this isn’t a pun either!) Not only do we get to live vicariously through them and absorb some of the beautiful views our tiny little planet has to offer, we also get to see what a talented photographer and filmmaker he is when immersing us in these locations from our homes. Evan’s travel vlogs are informative, fun, and as witty and charming as the man himself, and to top it off we can never get enough of them!
We just want to pack our bags and come with you next time, Evan!
Mental health
Probably one of the most serious videos we’ve seen from Evan, we really appreciate his forthright honesty in tackling such a sensitive subject.
Considerate, empathetic and informed, this video puts the viewer at ease, and allows Evan to make the discussion as chill and open as possible. Utilising his own experiences, Evan gives some real advice to those who are suffering – and we love him all the more for it!
When he was YouTube’s Cupid
When Cupid isn’t there for us singletons, it’s reassuring to know we can always rely on Evan to set us up on a virtual date! The Choose Your Adventure quiz that introduced us to new faces and gave us an 1-on-1 with those we knew, it was ambitious, organised, fresh, and brimming with fun and creativity from the creators who collaborated on it.
There’s no doubt this was such a fun moment for the community when Evan released an instalment (you can even see who we all went on virtual dates with), and has arguably become as anticipated in the YouTube calendar as SitC and YouTube Rewind.
We’re hoping Cupid will be back to find us a date for 2021!
When he keeps being friendship goals
We love that Evan invites us into the warmth and sincerity of many of his friendships, but can you name a more iconic duo than this?
The Dovan flat was a golden era of YouTube, and whether they’re posing for cute pictures, having a serious discussion about clickbait, or covering Fall Out Boy together, dodie and Evan have formed a friendship that we all need – two of the kindest human beans, showing the world how to be beautiful, supportive, creative individuals.
When he passed his British citizenship test
Yes, we’s one step closer to being able to adopt him!
Since moving to the UK, Evan has adapted to the British lifestyle with such ease that we’re almost convinced he’s not actually American. Through his channel, he’s taken us through his experience of becoming an official British citizen, explaining that, in spite of all his revising, the test was still very difficult, and he wasn’t confident going into it.
We all know how intelligent Evan is, and so we’re delighted he passed.
