The challenge is urging viewers to get creative with their leftovers.
The challenge and fundraiser was set up by Josh Scherer of Good Mythical Morning, in the hopes of raising both awareness and money for restaurants struggling to stay afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Josh, who also hosts the Mythical Kitchen YouTube Channel, is teaming up with Joshua Weissman, Alvin Cailan of First We Feast, Andrew Rea of Binging with Babish, and Internet Shaquille.
The #LeftoversChallenge asks viewers to get creative with their leftover takeaway and share it on social media using the hashtag, all while urging their followers to join in and share their own creations.
Alongside the announcement video is a prompt for viewers to donate to the Restaurant Workers Community Foundation, which aims to make the restaurant industry more hospitable for all.
During the coronavirus pandemic, it’ll be distributing “50% of all funds received to direct restaurant workers, 25% to non-profits serving restaurant workers, and 25% to zero-interest loans for restaurants starting back up”.
They told you it'd be something special! We hope @MythicalChef @BingingWBabish @firstwefeast @therealweissman & #InternetShaquille inspire you to make something amazing with the #LeftoversChallenge https://t.co/XziRknbFvt pic.twitter.com/rXGrPCx13C
