We all want to be a star!
Ah, Hollywood. The glitz, the glam, the paparazzi following our every move. It seems like a dream, doesn’t it? Well, maybe not, for we like our privacy, but that doesn’t mean one can’t dream about being among the world’s rich and famous. We’re major movie buffs, so we can’t help but wish that we could experience life on a film set. But, alas, we don’t have an acting bone in our body, so we’re left to admire from afar… Maybe we should take some lessons.
As everyone is currently stuck at home due to the coronavirus lockdown, we’ve found ourselves going a little stir crazy. There’s only so much Netflix you can watch, and we’ve just about exhausted every recipe in that cookbook that’s been gathering dust on the shelf. That’s why we’re glad we have our favourite YouTubers to help bring a little excitement into our lives. This time around, they’ve turned themselves into film stars, donning iconic costumes, doing their makeup in that classic, film noir way, and we’ve been loving every second of it.
The trend was first started by Alex Moore in a post where he recreated famous Steve McQueen images, before creators like Jack Howard were tagged in the trend. It has since snowballed and become a worldwide trend. “[I] wanted to create an idea to help us stay at home”, Alex said on Instagram. “So why not sod going out and instead glam it up by finding an iconic classic Hollywood star pic and copying it yourself using stuff in your house”.
So without further adieu, ladies and gentlemen, the #HollywoodAtHomeChallenge at its finest!
An iconic redhead
“Men go to bed with Gilda, but wake up with me” – Rita Hayworth
Got tagged by @rebstagram and @rachelzegler for the #hollywoodathomechallenge and it had to be this redhead icon 🎥🍿🎬 pic.twitter.com/wlk9ot9FV0
— Hazel Hayes (@TheHazelHayes) April 18, 2020
Given her gorgeous red locks, it’s no surprise Hazel Hayes decided to share her take on the beautiful Rita Hayworth’s classic look. We think she hit the nail on the head with this one!
Absolutely stunning!
Hattie Clark chose to take a different route with this challenge by instead sharing her take on famous American model, Bettie Page. We think we can all agree that both are absolutely stunning!
Dropping some knowledge
Did u know that Hollywood didn’t invent beards til the 1980s. Anyway here’s The Revenant #hollywoodathomechallenge pic.twitter.com/GNxjNz9HIQ
— Liam Dryden 🍊 (@LiamDrydenEtc) April 18, 2020
You know what, Liam Dryden, we didn’t know that beards weren’t invented until the 1980s. This is very good information. Also, we think you did a pretty swell job recreating Leo’s look from The Revenant.
Flawless

We had to do a double take here. Who else thinks Jake Pemberton looks IDENTICAL to Liz Taylor? What is this wizardry?!
Have you visited the land of Oz?
just a couple of Dorothys pic.twitter.com/byNRYPpLOm
— dodie (@doddleoddle) April 17, 2020
When you share the same name as a legendary film character, it’s pretty much certain that you’ll recreate their most iconic photos at some point in the life. We’d like to start a petition to have dodie cast as Dorothy in the next Wizard of Oz remake.
Comic genius
I'm not dyeing my hair and shaving my beard again #HollywoodAtHomeChallenge pic.twitter.com/xy40mgJ1nk
— Thomas ‘TomSka’ Ridgewell 🥵 (@thetomska) April 17, 2020
One comic genius dressing like another. We can only imagine the comedic shenanigans Oliver Hardy and Tom Ridgewell would get up to if Hardy were still alive.
Judy who?
We’re sorry, but how did Matt Ley manage to knock this recreation out of the park? Judy Garland would be shook – SHOOK, we say!
So gorgeous
I have had…so much fun with this tonight. ⭐️

Our mouths dropped when we saw this recreation by Rosianna Halse Rojas. She looks so beautiful!
Are you sure this was taken recently?
We all know Connie Glynn is a wizard when it comes to photo editing, but this is just next level! If we didn’t know better, we’d have thought this was taken around the same time as when Marlon Brando screamed at Stella!
If I’m James Dean, you’re Jack Howard
Spot the difference 👀 #HollywoodAtHomeChallenge pic.twitter.com/11WNvUoMJh
— Jack Howard (@JackHoward) April 16, 2020
We don’t know why you’re asking us to spot the difference, Jack Howard, because this is just the exact same picture posted twice!
Hugh Grant is back
Did the #HollywoodAtHomeChallenge on Insta. Someone tell Richard Curtis that once this is over I’ve never been more ready pic.twitter.com/3aiM539bcC
— Daniel J. Layton (@DanielJLayton) April 17, 2020
It’s official: someone needs to hire Daniel J. Layton to star in the next big romcom. Anyone else agree?
Hey, Barb
Queen Barbra 👸🏼#HollywoodAtHomeChallenge pic.twitter.com/dgNwy53OgE
— Millie (@millierosalie) April 17, 2020
A queen (Millie Johnston) showing off her take on another queen (Barbara Streisand). Could this be any more iconic?
It’s Reb-ert
Just call me Reb-ert Mitchum ✨ #HollywoodAtHomeChallenge pic.twitter.com/OpemynIT4Y
— Reb Day (@reb_day) April 16, 2020
At this point, all we can say is that we’re constantly blown away by Reb Day‘s talent and creativity.
So there you have it…
Our faves’ takes on the #HollywoodAtHomeChallenge. We already knew they were talented, but this is some next level stuff. After seeing this challenge, we’re setting up at least 10 petitions to have them star in the next biopics about these classic celebs. Anyone wanting to sign their name can send us a tweet to @TenEightyUK and we’ll add you to the list.
