The Coffee and Toothpaste singer is currently working on a recording of her track Brittle, which was posted on YouTube in 2016.
Announcing the project on TikTok, Libby says: “In the UK, we’re currently in lockdown, so I have made it my ambition to get a song out every month.
“I’ve got all the tools that I need here. I’ve got a microphone, I’ve got my guitar, I’ve got my ukulele, I’ve got a keyboard [and] I’ve got a laptop.
“All I need to do is put in the work, and actually get it done.”
Alongside releasing each song, Libby will also upload daily behind the videos on her TikTok profile offering a behind-the-scenes look at the tracks coming together.
“Showing the behind the scenes has always been something I’ve enjoyed doing and I enjoy watching other artists in the process of recording,” Libby tells TenEighty. “I essentially just wanted to make more content somehow and I figured working on a song would be content but I’ll constantly delay the process – unless I am on a tight lockdown to show my process every day to a wide audience that will most likely hold me to it.”
Although Libby says she has no idea at the moment how long the project will last, she adds that she wants to do it until the end of the pandemic at least, and that continuing for up to a year “would be a dream”.
In a video posted on TikTok on Friday updating followers on her progress with Brittle, Libby explains she has written down ideas and songs she wants to reference, recorded harmonies and told her producer about her plans.
When asked by TenEighty about whether the individual songs will form part of a bigger project, Libby replies that it is something she is still debating.
“I’d like to release them all as singles but I know realistically they won’t be able to be out within a month per song,” she says. “They’ll need to be mixed, then mastered and then uploaded to all the music sharing websites which can take a couple of weeks.
“Maybe I’ll pull an Oh Wonder and release them all as an album at the end of the project.”
While Brittle has already been shared on YouTube, Libby reveals to TenEighty that there will be recordings of some songs she has had “hidden for a while”, alongside tracks which are currently available on her channel.
“There’s one song called Turn Away that I had started working on months ago and did the typical procrastinating thing and never got around to finishing it,” she says, “but then I have plans for others like Mighty Mafia to finally be recorded.
“I’ll definitely announce it every month though so people know if it’s new or not!”
Libby can be found on TikTok and YouTube, with music available to stream and download on Apple Music and Spotify.
