The charity was done to help raise money for those affected by the Australian bushfires.
Sean Mcloughlin has raised over $200,000 for GlobalGiving, a charity which works to raise funds for those in need via crowdfunding, “connecting nonprofits, donors, and companies in nearly every country”. In regards to the Australian bushfires, all money raised is being used to fund support relief for the animals and residents directly affected by the ongoing natural disaster.
Sean held a four-hour live stream in support of the charity on 25 January. He had initially planned to donate to the Australian Red Cross, but after concerns were raised by viewers regarding how the charity allocates its funds, he decided to instead raise funds for GlobalGiving.
The initial goal for the charity steam was $100,00, which was quickly surpassed and extended to $200,000. Along with the live stream, Sean has added items to his online store – a Love Koala enamel pin and a Love Koala t-shirt – the proceeds from which will also be donated.
That was one of the craziest streams we've EVER done!! $200,000 raised in 4 hours is absolute insanity and I am incredibly grateful! You're all so generous and loving, the world needs that!
Happy Australia Day to all of you celebrating it too! 🇦🇺❤️— Jacksepticeye (@Jack_Septic_Eye) January 25, 2020
Word of the live stream was spread via Twitter using the hashtag #Koalateelove. Through the hashtag, viewers shared fan art and encouraged their followers to donate to the cause.
Those wishing to learn more about the fundraiser can do so by visiting Sean’s Tiltify page. The limited edition merchandise items can be purchased via his official online store.
