So… A lot has happened in UK and EU politics the past week.
Not only did we have the EU elections (and the scandal that was many people being turned away at the polls), we also saw Theresa May officially resign as Prime Minister. While we won’t dive deeply into it, we will say that this past week has been a lot and we honestly aren’t quite sure where we go from here. We’re hopefully the next few years will be better with different leadership, but we can’t say for sure, especially given so much is still up in the air. That being said, how could UK politics possibly get any worse? (Please don’t say we just jinxed it.)
Since things have been pretty heavy as of late, politics wise, we thought we’d help lighten things up with the Weekly Round-Up. This past week saw numerous amazing videos hit our sub box, and we’ve picked the best of the best to share with you all. So, without further ado, let’s jump into it!
MCR | The Diss Tracks | Stephen Tries
We’re kicking things off with a brand new Stephen Tries comedy sketch, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at how YouTube’s infamous diss tracks are actually made.
We honestly didn’t realise how many arguments occurred when thinking up the lyrics to a song, nor did we realise people got so heated about the pronunciation of “scone”. (It’s pronounced “sc-on”, by the way.) What we ended up learning from this video are the following: firstly, you need to have someone to write a diss track about, preferably someone who’s already written one about you. Second, you need a partner-in-crime to ensure the song is a hit. Thirdly, you need to know how to rhyme. Without rhyming, you’ve pretty much got nothing.
However, the most important thing we learnt? The best tracks of all come from calling a truce.
NOT MY STYLE… | The BIGGEST Transformation | Alice Thorpe
It’s no secret we are a fan of Alice Thorpe‘s style; we love her ombre hair and her clothes make us want to raid her closet. However, that’s not to say we wouldn’t also love it if she decided to transform herself, which is why we were pretty stoked to see this video pop-up in our sub box.
Alice went online to purchase a whole slew of products to complete this transformation, from new shoes to a BLUE wig! (Yes, you read right.) Upon seeing what she purchased, we knew she was planning something big, so we eagerly watched the video for the big reveal, and we definitely weren’t disappointed. We don’t want to spoil anything, but let’s just say she reminds us of how we looked circa the late 2000s, early 2010s.
Wizzo The Wizard | TomSka
Ever come in contact with a real life wizard? Probably not, but if you ever did, how would you even be able to tell? Don’t worry, Thomas Ridgewell‘s most recent comedy sketch is here to break it down for you.
Now, you might think you’d be able to tell if someone’s a wizard by them performing some mind-blowing magic right in front of you, but not exactly. We mean, in a world filled with optical illusions and tricks even the most non-magical of people can perform, it’s easy to be tricked into believing someone has powers, even when they don’t. But don’t worry, we can confidently say Wizzo the Wizard is 100% a wizard. We mean, only someone with magical powers could guess what number Tom’s character was thinking.

But why should this time of year be stressful? With the following five tips from Jade Bowler, you’ll be going from a ball of stress to complete zen!
The tips Jade lays out in this video are so practical and obvious that we’re surprised we never before considered them. DETECTIVE PIKACHU RAP: The Movie Remix | Dan Bull
At this point, the majority of you have probably seen Detective Pikachu. (And, if you’re like us, you’ve probably seen it at least three times.) What were your thoughts? Personally, we loved it. Sure, there were plot holes and the movie’s depiction of Ditto is kind of nightmare-inducing (no spoilers, just teasers!), but we found it to be an overall delight.
What could make the movie better, you ask? Well, how about a rap by Dan Bull? Taking on a voice that’s reminiscent of Danny Devito (how he managed to make his voice so raspy, we’ll never know), the rap is the very essence of what the Detective Pikachu character is. If you’re looking to further indulge in your love of Pokémon, we highly suggest checking it out.
In case you were looking for more videos…
Everyone is a fan of Bob Ross’s amazing artwork, but no one more so than Hannah Snow. That’s why she filmed herself recreating one of his pieces on her face! We think it turned out pretty well.
Ever wanted to wear a jumper, but weren’t quite sure how to do so? Fear not, for Lilly Ashton has created a fool’s guide to all things jumpers and sweaters. Watch if you’re feeling brave.
Jack Maynard stopped by Jack Dean‘s Happy Hour Podcast to discuss everything from his old tweets to his relationships with his fellow YouTubers. This is yet again another episode that proves the Happy Hour Podcast is one of the best podcasts out there.
For the month of May, Carrie Hope Fletcher is participating in May, Myself and I, and in a recent video she discussed the concept of kindness. This one will hit deep, so be prepared.
