April brings an end to all things.
April is turning out to be an exciting, yet quite gloomy month for some pop culture fans. Not only is it the end of an era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the last season of Game of Thrones has begun to grace our screens. If these two things weren’t already breaking our hearts, the trailer for the LAST instalment of the Skywalker saga of Star Wars was released this week too! Goodbye, our childhood.
We’ll hold back the tears for the Round-Up…
How To Get To Heaven | Jack and Dean
“He’s over there sticking his face in hot bread. He’s the son of God. He’s got options, that’s all I’m saying.”
If you need a giggle today, then Jack Howard and Dean Dobbs have your back with this hilarious parody on the afterlife. It features everyone’s favourite Janet Jackson fan, Daniel J. Layton, as Jesus and we’re loving the throwback to his long hair days with this reference.
The video pokes fun at how ridiculous the ideas of Heaven and Hell are, with Jack even accidentally saying “Jesus” and almost getting time added to his stay in Hell.
How The Australian Dollar Changed The World | Half-Asleep Chris
Time for some history now. Chris of Half-Asleep Chris educates us on the history of banknotes, with a particular focus on Australia’s banknotes. He looks at how they’re shaping the world’s money today and how they are the future of currency! They’re not only more durable and harder to counterfeit, but they’re much better for the environment too. Looks likes there are no downsides.
This video, much like Chris’ previous ones, is so beautifully crafted and well-edited that it makes you unable to look away, even if you originally thought you had no interest in the topic. Who knew a video all about banknotes could be so interesting?
Cute Without You | EmmaBlackeryVEVO
Emma Blackery has been breaking her way into the music scene for a while now. She released her first album, Villains, last year and we are so excited about this new era of her music.
She’s kicking it off with this upbeat bop of a song that has us tapping our feet. It’s the sort of song that makes you feel sassy and kind of unstoppable. It’s most certainly a great song to play in your headphones as you’re walking home and pretending to be in a fierce music video. We mean, what? We don’t do that…
Growing up with translated books + my childhood favourites | booksandquils
Living in the UK, we’re very fortunate that almost all of the mainstream media we consume is in our native language. But those not from English-speaking countries don’t have that same luxury. To enjoy this mainstream media, they either have to get dubs or wait for translated versions to come out.
Being from the Netherlands, Sanne Vliegenthart consumed a lot of translated media when she was younger, before she learnt how to speak English. She shares the experience of growing up with translations and how she hadn’t even realised some stories had been translated in the first place.
How to Maintain Concentration (for as long as 14 hours!) | Ruby Granger
Exam season is among us and has many of us in a panic. We’ll be staring at textbooks and blurry revision notes for hours, with nothing seeming to go in. Our concentration has disappeared and we’re stuck stressing about the fact we can’t focus.
These tips by Ruby Granger are going to save our skin for our next revision session and will help us maintain our concentration. She talks about how to overcome our procrastination needs and keep ourselves motivated. We need to remember to allow ourselves to relax and reward the work we’re doing. If it’s all work and no play, things become boring pretty quickly.
Want more? Sure you do!
Star Wars Celebration had many fans excited this week and has birthed many a reaction video, especially about the Episode IX trailer. Livvy Edwards‘ reaction to the trailer was particularly adorable and we couldn’t relate more. Her eyebrows when the Emperor laughed had us giggling.
Ever wondered what would happen if all your school teachers went speed dating together? Well, Luke Birch answers this burning question in this skit video, dressing up as all your favourites. You’ve got your overly enthusiastic female PE teacher and the nerd English teacher writing poems that only they could enjoy…
Kate Elisabeth booked a spontaneous trip to Budapest with some friends and four hours later she was on her way to the airport, camera in hand, to take us along for the ride. She lived in the lap of luxury for the entire crazy trip.
Obviously, spring means a new spring book tag on YouTube, right? Nicole Marie answers the springtime questions and shares her favourite books of the season. Looks like our to-read list just got even bigger!
