Happy April Fools’?
We’ve barely escaped April Fools’ Day without any injuries, but there was one surprising announcement that took Twitter by storm when it turned out to actually be true. Summer in the City is braving the dark and chilly months with Winter in the City, meaning we’ll be booking a trip to Birmingham very soon. To say this is a long-anticipated event would be an understatement.
On with the Round-Up!
12 VAGINA MYTHS & heres the truth… | Jessie B
Jessica Brennan wants to end the taboo around vaginas. They’re a part of our bodies and approximately half of the population have them, so why shouldn’t we talk about them?
Since there is a taboo around talking about vaginas, there are many people out there who don’t know how they actually work. There are so many myths floating around that are still thought by so many to be fact! Jessie is setting us straight on these myths and teaching us how they actually work.
I quit social media for 30 days… | Jacob White
“Spending more than two hours on social a day media is proven to show that you are more likely to have poor mental health.”
Social media is what most of us are addicted to these days, but if it’s not used responsibly it can have some pretty nasty effects on our self-esteem, as well as our mental health. Upon seeing he was spending three hours+ a day on social sites, Jacob White decided he needed to cut himself off.
He went cold turkey, deleting all of his social media apps off his phone before realising he’d have to find something else to do for those three hours each day. He’d been so addicted to his phone that he even started to feel phantom buzzing. Even though this was hard at first, it was pretty enlightening for Jacob and had a positive outcome.
Flatline | Orla Gartland
Orla Gartland is back with another amazing song and a cool video to match. (Which we are a little bit obsessed with.) This video shows Orla auditioning for a school talent show and ends with her basically giving a big “screw you” performance to the judgy teacher while she struts her stuff.
We don’t know what it is about this video, but it gave us serious Hogwarts/Ginny Weasley vibes and we are LOVING it. Now we just need you to drop the album, Orla!
What Does Autism Look Like? – World Autism Awareness Day [CC] | IndieAndy
To celebrate Autism Awareness week, Andy Burns uploaded autism-related videos every day. Each one tackled a different aspect of autism, truly helping the world understand it more. Our favourite from the week was a look into what it’s like to be autistic, from Andy’s perspective, and what autistic people have to deal with.
This video shows that autism can come in many different shapes and sizes. It can make the world feel confusing and difficult to understand, but all Andy asks is that people try to understand him and let him be himself.
Paint like a Unicorn – Art Challenge | BananaJamana
Jamie Jo is an incredible artist and she’s taking things to the next level by making painting a bit more difficult for herself. How? By putting a paintbrush on her head and painting like a unicorn. It’s only right that she paints a unicorn while pretending to be one
This video left us screaming “HOW?!” at our screens. You’d think painting with a brush on your forehead would result in a disastrous outcome, but no. Jamie is the only person who could still make a super cute painting, leaving us both amazed and jealous of her art skills.
We know you want more…
Erin Doogan has a series on her channel where she documents her periods. With these videos, she’s trying to end the stigma around menstruation and create a community where people can talk openly about their period problems. It’s great to see these very real videos.
Samantha Maria is inspiring us to do a big spring clean with this wardrobe clean out video. The goal is to get rid off some of the things she’s not wearing and remind herself of what she actually owns, in order to stop impulse buying replicas.
Next, we have another great Autism Awareness Week video by Katy Gough. In this relaxed video, she sits down in front of her camera to answer her viewers’ autism-related questions. She talks from her own experiences and gives us an insight into how she deals with autism.
If you’re looking for baby names, then Lucia Keskin‘s video is for you. She lists out the 100 best Millennial baby names and they are all perfect. Our personal favourites are Brexit and Moonpig. We can’t wait for our kids to be the best named on the playground.
