No one can be trusted on April Fools’ Day.
If there’s one day of the year where you have to constantly be on guard, it’s 1 April. It’s a day where you learn who you can trust and who you need to keep an eye on. Your best friend? Be on the lookout because they might have hidden a whoopee cushion on that chair you’re about to sit on. Your mother? Be careful biting into that sandwich because she might have used hot sauce, instead of mustard. See, even the most innocent can’t be trusted on April Fools’ Day, and that includes our favourite YouTubers, who managed to play many a trick on us via Twitter. We were pretty impressed with what they managed to come up with
Here’s a snapshot of how our faves managed to pull the wool over our eyes this April Fools’ Day.
He’s uploaded a new video… Just kidding
when i am ready thank you all for your continued support
— Daniel Howell (@danielhowell) April 1, 2019
We haven’t had a new Daniel Howell video since mid-2018. We’ve missed seeing his videos in our sub boxes, so you can bet we were uber excited to see this tweet pop up on our timelines. That is, until we saw the latter. Well played, Daniel, well played.
(PS. We will always support you.)
We can’t wait!

Winter in the City

We know the organisers of Summer in the City are totally joking about a winter gathering, but how awesome would that be? (Answer: SO awesome!)
Yeah, right
I have decided that I’m not going to post topless pictures anymore because my body is sacred and should only be shared with the man I love
— Calum McSwiggan (@CalumMcSwiggan) April 1, 2019
We’ll believe it when we see it, Calum McSwiggan…
You almost had us
Decided to go a bit crazy. Thoughts on the new do? pic.twitter.com/oDvGV4lCmM
— Peter Kingston (@petesjams) April 1, 2019
If we hadn’t known this was an older picture, Peter Kingston, you totally would have got us with this one! However, we totally wouldn’t hate it if you ever decided to bleach your hair again. (Maybe just buy some purple shampoo this time.)
Wow, so nice
We filmed a new Jack and Dean sketch yesterday pic.twitter.com/YVu0Bwbkky
— Jack Howard (@JackHoward) April 1, 2019
Leave it to Ciaran OBrien to let Jack Howard know the brutal, honest truth about his acting skills.
It’s all in a name
guys ☹️ I have an announcement 💋I’ve not… been… honest 😭😭 my name is actually 🥺🥺🥺 lewis with an i 😰😞 sorry I’ve been a big fat porky liar 🤬 I understand if you hate me 😪
— lew (@lookingforlewys) April 1, 2019
How dare you lie to us about the spelling of your name, Lewys Ball! We thought we could trust you, but we guess not. You really have been a big fat porky liar.
So much hair
I’ve been lying to you… I have been wearing a bald cap this whole time, my name is really Sessile and I want to talk to your manager because I’ve been overcharged 3p pic.twitter.com/3tOFM6xeUi
— Roly West (@RolyUnGashaa) April 1, 2019
Umm, we don’t mean any offence, Roly West, but we suggest you continue to wear your bald cap. That haircut certainly is… Something.
Oops…
Tried to play an April Fools joke on my agent today but I just made him late for a meeting with my publisher.
It wasn’t even a funny joke. pic.twitter.com/HfVJiUZF5K
— Hazel Hayes (@TheHazelHayes) April 1, 2019
Not all April Fools’ pranks jokes go as planned, Hazel Hayes! However, to make up for your agent being late for a meeting, we suggest sending over one of those weird bouquets made of chocolate and fruit. We’re told those make everything better. (We’re not sure why, though.)
If only this were true
I’m so glad they decided to cancel the rest of the Fantastic Beasts films in cinemas and push them straight to DVD. They sadly just weren’t good
— Evan Edinger (@EvanEdinger) April 1, 2019
Umm, we think you misunderstood the meaning of April Fools’ Day, Evan Edinger. While we know you’re joking, this is something we (and pretty much everyone else in the Harry Potter fandom) want. Actually, better yet, how about they stop making the Fantastic Beasts franchise altogether? Just a thought.
Update 8 April 2019: It turns out Winter in the City is going to be an actual real thing and we are BEYOND stoked! Well played, Summer in the City. Well played.
So there you have it…
The hilarious ways our faves tried to prank us on Twitter this April Fools’ Day. We’re not going to lie, some of them managed to get us for a minute, but they underestimated how smart we are. We caught on pretty quick! (We didn’t, actually. We just didn’t want everyone to know how gullible we are…)
