The challenge is the latest in a series of trends to appear on the mobile video app.
TikTok announced the launch of the challenge on 23 March, as part of its #Challenge series. The app, along with the popular UK television character Mr. Bean, who is played by actor Rowan Atkinson, are asking users to film themselves interpreting Mr. Bean’s dance moves. Upon uploading their videos to the app, they can share them using the hashtag #TheMrBean.
The challenge is based on a video that was initially uploaded to TikTok on 19 March via Mr. Bean’s official account. He first joined the app in January 2019 and has since amassed over 450,000 fans and received over 1.5 million hearts.
The challenge initially went live in the UK. However, numerous users across the world are getting involved, including those based in Indonesia, France, Mexico, Spain, the Netherlands, Australia, Italy, Germany and Portugal.
