When a YouTuber is tired of London, they are tired of life.
Big Ben. Buckingham Palace. Hyde Park. Where Daniel Howell lives. London is known for a lot things, from iconic landmarks to fascinating history and great food, and with so many things to see and do, it can feel difficult to know where to start. Luckily for us, some of our favourite creators are showing us the best the city has to offer, and we’ve put together five of our favourites.
Mind the gap, take a seat on the tube of content and let us be your Oyster Card with this week’s Five of the Best: Sights & Sounds of London!
Landmark Rush | charlieissocoollike
With the Tower of London, the Shard, Big Ben and awful weather, Charlie McDonnell‘s video from way back in 2012 is a great introduction to the city of London. 10 landmarks in two hours is a tall order, but Charlie manages it with minutes to spare, and while we can’t recommend you run around London in the rain, it’s a good place to start taking some inspiration for when planning your next trip.
Where does London stop? | Jay Foreman
What do you do if you’re a veteran Londoner and the typical sightseeing spots are a bit old hat? Jay Foreman‘s hilarious series, Unfinished London, is the place for you! His most recent addition to the series explores where London officially “ends” and how the border has changed over the years, but he’s also covered how London’s airports have grown and how the city could change in the future.
If you’re looking to find out more about the city, Jay’s series is a great way to spend a couple of hours.
BACKSTAGE AT FASHION WEEK | Jim Chapman
So you’ve seen the sights, learnt the history, but what about some of the culture? In this video, Jim Chapman takes us on a behind-the-scenes look at London Fashion Week, showing how fashion shows get put together and highlighting some of London and the UK’s best men’s fashion houses. It’s a great insight into a side of the city most people never get to see. Plus, the weather is lovely in the video, which makes for a nice change from the current awful mid-March weather.
10 Cool Places You HAVE Visit in London 2019! (hidden spots) | Derin Adetosoye
Admittedly, Fashion Week isn’t the most practical suggestion for when you’re visiting London, but don’t worry, Derin Adetosoye has you covered! In this video, Derin shows us some hidden spots across the city, with everything from places to eat and interesting shopping areas, to cool Instagram opportunities. It’s also a great video to take inspiration from if you’re on a budget, with Derin highlighting a number of free places.
My Favourite Places to Eat & Drink in London | ad | Hannah Witton
If you’re anything like us, any trip is defined by what you eat and drink, so Hannah Witton‘s video from a couple of years ago is the perfect way to start your gastronomic trip through the city. With coffee shops, underground bars and pubs with hidden Thai restaurants and beer gardens, all with Hannah’s seal of approval, we know where we’re going next time we visit.
So there you have it…
Our Five of the Best: Sights & Sounds of London! We hope we’ve helped start getting the most out of this incredible city, whether you’re living the London life vicariously, finding inspiration for the next time you visit or are looking to find some hidden gems in your hometown.
