This time last week we were closing out VidCon London with The Night of Awesome.
Last weekend saw the first ever VidCon London hit the UK! Tons of our faves from across the pond and right here at home took to the ExCeL Centre to take part in the convention, which included panels, live performances and much more. Given it was an event centred around YouTube, many in attendance took to vlogging the entire weekend, giving us ample opportunities to relive the excitement over and over again. Given there are so many videos, we thought we’d dedicate an entire Five of the Best to our top faves.
Looking for some opinions, recaps or simply some aesthetically pleasing vlogs? You’ve come to the right place. Here they are, our Five of the Best: VidCon London 2019.
VIDCON LONDON vs SITC: Was It Worth It? | Vlog #VidconLDN | Alice Thorpe
We’re kicking off this special Five of the Best with this vlog from Alice Thorpe, who shares her thoughts about the event and how it compares to our all-time fave YouTube gathering, Summer in the City. Her vlog features a look at the various panels she attended, as well as a look at her time away from the convention, including grabbing a few drinks and singing along to some classic Taylor Swift.
As for what she thought about VidCon London? In her opinion, she feels it was a convention geared more toward the creators, given the panels that were held and the networking possibilities. This is opposed to SitC, which she feels is more geared toward the viewer experience, in terms of the accessibility of creators. She also discusses the price of attending the event, as well as her thoughts on The Night of Awesome.
We found ourselves nodding in agreement with the majority of what she had to say, so this is definitely a vlog we suggest you watch!
VIDCON LONDON ’19 | VLOG | TATI
Looking to go behind the scenes at VidCon London? Then you’ll definitely be wanting to check out this weekend vlog from Tati Kapaya, who covers her experience attending the convention.
This video features a look at some of the panels that were on offer over the weekend, as well as a sneak peek at the various creator lounges, and has cameos from numerous YouTubers and even a few TenEighty contributors – we see you, Christy Ku and Gemma Dunnell! Not only do we love the way this video was edited (we’re totes jealous of Tati’s editing skills), but we love that she manages to show us so much within the span of a 10 minute video.
Also, can we add how much we love her and Eman Kellam‘s friendship? Such BFF goals.
VIDCON LONDON 2019 | MEETING YOUTUBE FRIENDS! | Mr Carrington
Iwan Carrington‘s vlog about VidCon London really shows what creators were able to get out of the event if they attended the panels. Along with the community panels, the ones focused more toward creators gave insight into how to build and grow one’s channel, and Iwan made sure to soak up as much information as he could!
What we love most about this vlog is that it shows him catching up with loads of his friends and enjoying the weekend at his own pace. We get to see appearances from Jack Edwards (with a cheeky plug for his new podcast) and Holly and Callum Smith. At this point, it would be a crime not to comment on Callum’s amazing Nutella-inspired outfit. We don’t think we’ve ever seen such high fashion!
Also, Iwan, don’t worry, we too would have been terrified if a mouse jumped at us out of nowhere. We think recruiting a cat to deal with the situation would be a good move.
what rEaLLy hApPeNeD at Vidcon London | Eve Cornwell
Would it really be an Even Cornwell vlog without her running late? We think not! So we were totally not surprised she was late on both days she attended VidCon London.
VidCon is the first ever YouTube convention Eve’s attended, so we were pretty excited to see how it would turn out for her. The answer: pretty damn well. We loved seeing how much fun she had, from getting to play in the bubbles at the Facebook and Instagram Creator Lounge, to taking some pretty sweet pics for Instagram. (You gotta make sure your IG game is always on point.) It even features footage from the live recording of her podcast!
We’re also going to retitle this vlog VidCon London: StudyTube Squad Goals, as it features numerous appearances from Jack, Jade Bowler and Ruby Granger. Does everyone else agree with this change?
youtubers, youtubers & more youtubers (vidcon london) | byron’s vlogs
We’re closing out this Five of the Best with a very (emphasis on very) aesthetically pleasing vlog from the one and only Byron Denton. Byron’s vlogs are somewhat of a guilty pleasure of ours, and we always find ourselves wishing we could make our videos look as good as his!
As the title of this vlog aptly explains, there are numerous YouTuber cameos. We won’t list them all, because that could potentially take a while, but we will say you’ll notice the lovely Lizzie Barnett, as well as Anastasia Kingsnorth, who appears to have just discovered the greatness that is a handheld back massager. In need of a laugh? We highly suggest checking out of the part where the group head out, thinking they’re going to an Elle Mills performance, when really it’s one by New Hope Club. We love the shenanigans they get up to.
So there you have it…
Our Five of the Best: VidCon London 2019! We think these videos sum up the weekend pretty well. Did you attended the convention? Be sure to let us know your highlights were by sending a tweet to @TenEightyUK! We had a pretty swell time, so we’ll take any excuse to talk about it!
