Another January has come and gone…
With the end of January also came the completion of a YouTube series we’d grown quite fond of, Lucy Moon‘s Moonuary. Her personal take on the annual VEDIJ (Vlog Every Day In January) trend, Moonuary saw Lucy uploading new videos every other day to her channel. It’s no secret she’s one of our favourite creators on the platform, so we were pretty excited to see our sub boxes sprinkled with such stellar content.
Overall, Lucy uploaded a total of 15 videos during Moonuary. While we can’t cover them all in one article – we’d be here all day if we did – we can certainly highlight our favourites. Consider this a crash course in what Lucy’s channel has to offer. If you’re interested in aesthetically pleasing videos (her editing is something dreams are made of) and love topics like fashion and lifestyle, then this is definitely an article you’ll want to keep reading.
Here they are, our seven favourite videos from Lucy Moon’s Moonuary!
Lucy Moon’s 2018 Review
In one of the first videos to kick off Moonuary, Lucy uploaded a Year In Review about 2018. We were pretty excited to see this in our sub boxes, as we love a good review video, whether it be a monthly or yearly one, so you can bet this was one of the first videos we watched in 2019.
Throughout, Lucy shares her highs and lows, as well as her yearly favourites, which we made sure to make notes on. 2018 was definitely a BIG year for her and we’ve loved seeing how much she’s grown, not only as a YouTuber, but as a person. Our favourite part of the video was when she discussed her favourite music of 2018. We think she has such a stellar music taste and our Spotify playlists are happy to receive her recommendations!
How YouTubers Actually Make Money | Forbes Highest-Paid YouTube Stars 2018
We’re pretty sure everyone and their mother read that infamous Forbes article about the highest-paid creators on YouTube. It was EVERYWHERE in December, and we saw it launch the conversation about how YouTubers make money, a topic Lucy spoke about in this video.
There are numerous ways in which YouTubers make money, including Google AdSense, brand deals and affiliate links. This video offers a brilliant insight into how our faves make a living through the videos they upload and we appreciate Lucy explaining it in a way that is easy to understand and thorough. We wish other creators could be this transparent and open with their audiences.
Best Charity Shops In London | Come Thrifting With Me
If there’s one thing Lucy is known for, it’s her fashion sense. She always looks super trendy and gorgeous, and we often wish we could go shopping with her to see where she buys her most stylish of items. Well, our wish was granted with this video, where she takes us to her favourite charity shops in London, offering a sneak peek into how she’s built her stunning fashion wardrobe.
Everyone knows how detrimental the fast-fashion trend is for the environment, so we’ve begun to see many of our faves urging their audiences to shop secondhand and the best place to start is definitely charity shops. You can often find hidden gems, and the clothes are pretty good. You can bet we’ll be visiting the stores mentioned in this video the next time we need to update our look!
My First Year Gluten-Free | Why I Gave Up Gluten
Lucy has been very open about the stomach and digestion issues she’s been experiencing, and this video is a window into her life after having cut out gluten. As she explains, she’s been diagnosed as being gluten intolerant – however, it’s still unknown if she’s coeliac – and details everything from her family history to how she’s had to change her food intake to meet her new dietary needs.
We love how open Lucy got in this video, and we’re sure it was incredibly helpful to many viewers who might have been experiencing similar issues, but were unaware of what could have been causing them.
Organising My Life | Ten Mindful Habits For The New Year
We can all do with being a bit more organised, us included. In fact, we recently published a Five of the Best dedicated to the subject. We’re constantly on the lookout for new tips, which is why we were quick to grab our notebooks and jot down the numerous pointers Lucy offered up in this video.
The tips Lucy mentions seem simple enough, but manage to do a world of good when it comes to leaving us feeling more organised and ready to take on the day. Two tips we definitely suggest applying to your day-to-day lives include setting a timer when doing certain tasks, so you feel more compelled to do them and feel a sense of accomplishment upon the buzzer going off, and curating your social media, so you only follow accounts that spark joy and leave you feeling inspired. If they work for Lucy, odds are they’ll work for you too!
My Favourite Cafes In East London
If you’re like us (and the majority of the human population), coffee is pretty much a staple in your life. Most of us have trouble functioning throughout the day if we haven’t had our morning cuppa, which is why we highly suggest you check out this video, where Lucy shares with us her recommendations for the best cafes in East London.
If you’re in need of a place to work, are still looking for that perfect cup of coffee or are simply wishing to embark on a tour of East London, this is definitely a video you need to watch. However, be warned, you’ll most likely be left with a yearning for a cuppa and some delicious baked goods!
Answering Uncomfortable Questions
If there’s one thing we love most about Lucy, it’s that she’s not one to shy away from topics others might avoid. That’s exactly what she did with this video, which was created in partnership with Canesten, where she answered viewer questions about intimate health and relationships.
Throughout, Lucy shares her thoughts and opinions on the questions asked and is very open about her own experiences in relation to them. It’s interesting to hear her insight and we love how comfortable she is discussing the topics presented. It’s this openness that’ll help to break the taboo around sexual health, and we love it whenever our fave creators works to spread education and awareness.
So there you have it…
Our seven favourite videos from Lucy Moon’s Moonuary! As you can probably tell, we were pretty much the series’ biggest fans, as we loved having more Lucy in our lives. While we’re sad it’s over, we’re hopeful she’ll bring it back for January 2020. If not, we’re just as happy to continue binge-watching her videos, which we already do on a regular basis. (Not that we’re obsessed or anything…)
