Giovanna Fletcher to Co-Present New CBeebies Series

Giovanna Fletcher and Nigel Clarke announced as presenting duo for new series The Baby Club

The Baby Club, a new series for BBC pre-school channel CBeebies, aims to help families engage with and share precious time with their babies and toddlers as they explore everyday objects through discovery, play, song and story.

So, remember when I was up in Manchester last July filming something for CBeebies? Well, I can finally reveal that it was for a new show called THE BABY CLUB, which will literally be bringing all the joy of a baby club to your screens from March. From nursery rhymes to story time, bubble blowing to discovering every day gems around your home – this show is all about you and your baby joining in. I really hope you enjoy being part of our Baby Club. When I think back to the clubs I started going to with Buzz, it took me a while to relax and enjoy them. I put a lot pressure on myself to look like I was in control, and would be drenched with mum-sweats (very different to normal sweat) when Buzz would (invariably) have a melt down. I thought I would be judged at every turn, but actually my biggest critic was myself, and I hate that it hindered me just having a nice time with my beautiful baby. It’s not always easy to get to a club – it might be too far away, the timings may be tricky, perhaps you're so busy running around after other kids that the baby misses out or you simply might just not feel up to it yet (I also know going into a room of strangers can feel daunting), but I hope this show will help others bond, discover and smile with their babies in a relaxed setting. Giving parents the confidence to join an actual class one day. This was a JOY to film. Whoever said ‘never work with children’ got it all wrong. Giovanna said “Presenting The Baby Club has been an absolute pleasure and I can’t wait to share it with you all. As a mother of three the importance of play-time and making special memories with babies and toddlers during those early stages is incredibly important to me. I’m sure it’s going to appeal to such a wide variety of families across the country.”

The series is a first of its kind for CBeebies as it is aimed at a dual audience of both adults and babies.

Both Foundation Years Trust and the charity Peeple, which support parents and learning, have been involved in the development of the series.

The Baby Club airs on CBeebies in March this year.
