There’s one thing UK winters seem to lack: snow.
While those across the world are able to experience puffy flakes of snow, we here in the UK are normally forced to deal with dreary, rainy weather. Sure, we get the odd snowfall every once and a while, but most of the time we’re stuck with only one type of weather. That’s why we’re glad we have YouTubers, who are willing to film their travels and vlog their snowy adventures, so that we can experience true winter weather through their videos.
Here they are, our Five of the Best: Winter Wonderland videos!
SKIING VLOG | TIGNES, FRANCE 2018 | Brogan Tate
Kicking off this week’s Five of the Best is a lovely vlog from the one and only Brogan Tate, who takes us on her family’s annual ski trip, which happened to take place in Tignes, France this year. If you’re going to go on a ski holiday, you might as well do it in one of the most gorgeous countries in the world.
We have to give Brogan and her family some major props for embarking on the massively long drive to Tignes. While we’re sure it was tiring, we feel it was definitely worth it, considering how much fun they had whilst on holiday. From some hilarious Heads Up! antics to their skiing adventures, this is a vlog that had us itching to pack up our skis and hit the slopes.
Also, can we talk about how gorgeous the views are in this video? The one thing we love most about travel vlogs is how they highlight the earth’s natural beauty and the landscapes in this one are absolutely mesmerising.
An Unexpected Snow Day In London | Sam Carr
As we stated above, London (and the UK in general) doesn’t often see snow, so when those white flakes do make an appearance, it’s kind of a big deal. So much so, in fact, that many of our fave creators opt to document it, either through social media posts or via video. That’s exactly what Sam Carr decided to do after those few days of snow we saw at the beginning of 2018.
We’re fans of Sam’s vlogs because of how visually stunning and cinematic they are. He certainly has a way with a camera and the result is something truly breathtaking. If you’ve ever wanted to see London covered in snow while set to some lovely music, this is definitely the video for you. If really shows off the beauty of this often bustling city.
Playing Through Blizzards: Football In The Arctic | COPA90
We know you’re probably thinking, “COPA90 is a football channel. You can’t play football in the snow, so why are you featuring one of their videos in this Five of the Best?” Well, we’re here to prove you wrong. Football CAN be played in the snow and it’s helping the youth in Canada’s Nunavut territory.
For those unaware, Nunavut is cold – like, really cold. A majority of the territory is located above the Arctic Circle. But winter’s chill doesn’t stop these football players, as this documentary shows. In just over eight minutes, COPA90 shares with viewers the importance of football to Inuit culture. In a territory that sees a suicide rate that’s 9.9 times higher than Canada’s national average, the sport is seen to help both physical and mental heath through its fun nature and camaraderie-building abilities.
This is definitely a video we recommend everyone watch.
Winter Efteling! | Maddie Moate
Ever love a place so much that you simply HAD to visit it again? Well, that’s exactly what happened with Maddie Moate and Greg Foot, who loved Efteling theme park so much that they decided to visit it once more, this time in the dead of winter.
We’re not going to lie, this vlog had us fighting the urge to hop on a plane to the Netherlands. Throughout, Maddie shows us just what Efteling has to offer during its winter celebrations, and spoiler: it’s everything! From gorgeous decorations to stunning attractions, we feel the snowy weather adds to the theme park’s already magical-ness. (Yes, we know that isn’t actually a word.) We honestly didn’t think it could get any prettier, but there you go. It’s really the theme park of our dreams!
Maddie and Greg, do you mind taking us along the next time you visit?
NEW YEARS IN THE MOUNTAINS! | FunForLouis
Louis Cole is pretty much living a life many of us can only dream of. He’s constantly on the move, travelling and seeing the world. (And leaving us pretty jealous in the process.) Sometimes, he’ll visit places with endless sun and gorgeous weather. Other times, he’ll brave the cold for some chilling adventures. That’s exactly what happened in this vlog, as Louis, Raya Encheva and their loved ones spent the holidays on the slopes.
California might not be known for snow, but the higher elevations see quite a bit of it. Throughout this vlog, we see Louis and his family snowboarding down the slopes before ringing in the New Year in style. After a lovely dinner and some boards games in their cabin, the group head back to the mountain for what we can only describe is an epic dance-off. Man, we wish we had these moves!
PS. We’ll totally be using the travel cushion as a butt pad hack the next time we hit the ski slopes. While we consider ourselves pretty skilled, it still really hurts when we accidentally take a tumble down the hill.
So there you have it…
