Mark Ferris opens up about his weight and eating habits in a personal video.
In the sit down video, Mark Ferris talks openly for the first time about his relationship with food and comments he receives about his weight.
“Many of the comments I’ve seen about myself recently are ‘Oh you’re looking so well’, ‘You look like you’ve put on a bit of weight’, ‘You’re looking really good'”, Mark says in the video.
“Take me back eight months, I was in a very weird space with my body. I never wanted anyone to assume that I had an eating disorder or anything like that, I just had a real problem with food”.
“I just wanted to be really really slim”, Mark explains. “There would be times when people would offer me food and I’d say no all the time, I knew that was wrong.”
In the video Mark considers whether he may have subconsciously felt pressured by images and unrealistic ideals portrayed online. He also mentions the lack of males speaking about their personal issues.
“One of the main reasons I wanted to make this video is because when it comes to eating problems, I don’t see many male YouTubers with a voice to speak about it.
“Whether it be a really small case or an extreme case, I think it’s really important to talk about it.”
Speaking about his current outlook, Mark reveals he’s in a much more positive place. “I kept it in for so long, this is going to help me putting it out there. Everyone has their own demons, this was one of my main things. I’ve honestly never felt better now that I’m properly looking after myself”.
