Alisha Jasmine faces the difficult challenge of waking up every day for a whole week at 5 am.
Alisha started the challenge in hopes of fixing her terrible sleeping pattern of going to sleep very late, no matter what, and then still waking up quite early (high key relatable for us).
On the first night, she didn’t manage to get the hours of sleep she’d wanted but still got up when her alarm rang at 5 am. The day started off well, with Alisha getting almost all her work done by 9 am but then was left feeling lost with not much else to do.
The tiredness of getting up early didn’t hit until 12 hours later, at 6 pm. But, determined to stay up and fix her sleeping pattern, she battled through it.
Day 2 didn’t go as well… she hadn’t been able to get up at 5 am and fell back asleep, putting the rest of her day on a downward spiral. With the terrible mood failing the challenge had put her in, Alisha wasn’t able to get any of the work done that she’d hoped to, despite her efforts.
The next day went so much better. With her abundance of alarms, Alisha had managed to get up, feel refreshed, and get her work done for that day.
“I thought it would make me more productive but it’s actually been one of the least productive weeks of my life,” Alisha said towards the end of the challenge.
She realised how she’d massively overlooked how hard it is to wake up every day at 5 am when you don’t have to and have no place to be. She’d thought that waking up early would allow her more time to be productive but instead, she’d spent the time just feeling tired from the lack of sleep.
Instead of improving her lifestyle, this challenge just put a stop on her day, not allowing her to get anything done. So when Alisha woke up late again the next day, she abandoned ship and gave up with the early starts. Sounds good to us!
Looking into the future, she wants to try more lifestyle changing challenges. Her next plan is to go a whole week without social media. We’d rather her than us!
