Trick-or-teat yourself!
With the nights drawing in, the weather getting colder and the food becoming more and more pumpkin-themed, you know Halloween is just around the corner. We’re noticing this year that some houses have decided to put up some decorations, similar to the ones you see during the Christmas season, which would be nice, besides the fact we’re now terrified to leave the office because of the giant inflatable ghost five doors down. But, hey, it’s helping us get into the Halloween spirit, so we’re definitely not complaining!
You know who else loves Halloween? Our favourite YouTubers! Each year without fail they upload videos aimed at scaring us, helping us put together the best costumes and making treats so delicious our house will be the most popular on the street! (Take that, Cadbury… But, no, really, we love you.) See what your faves are up to this Halloween season with our Five More of the Best: Halloween videos!
HALLOWEEN CUPCAKES | #BAKINGWITHJIM | Jim Chapman
Let’s start off this Five of the Best with a classic; if Halloween isn’t for sweets and baking, what is it for? In this episode of his ever popular Baking With Jim series, Jim Chapman is making Halloween-themed cupcakes from one of his wife and fellow YouTuber Tanya Burr‘s cookery books.
Several bowls, a trip to the shops and a frustratingly uneven number of cakes later and we’ve got some appropriately spooky treats. (We actually think crocodiles are very scary, Jim.) If you’ve been following the recipe along at home, you could hand them out to trick-or-treaters or have them with a few drinks and get into the spooky spirit with the help of our next video!
Spoopy Tipsy Talk with Dodie Clark | Hazel Hayes
Once you’ve gone through all the sweet treats Jim taught you how to bake, it’s time to focus on putting together the perfect costume. Lacking inspiration? Then we thoroughly recommend this spooky Tipsy Talk from Hazel Hayes and dodie!
We wish we had a friendship like the one dodie and Hazel share. There are so many laughs throughout this video and we loved the various discussions the pair had. As well, can we talk about how witch-like Hazel looks after dodie’s finished with her makeup? We wish we had that talent! With inspiration for costumes you can put together at home, this video helps to remind us of all the fun we’ll be having with friends this coming Halloween!
WORST PUMPKIN CARVING VIDEO EVER | Roly
We’ve stuck to a couple of our old favourites thus far, so why change things now?
Pumpkins are a staple of Halloween. Not only are they fun to carve, but their orange colour goes perfectly with our autumn-themed decor. As we’re pumpkin carving aficionados, we actively look forward to Roly West and Calum McSwiggan‘s carving videos each year. (Calum has also done one with Hannah Witton, which is totally worth a watch.) With tangents, several camera issues and a blatant disregard for health and safety, they’re the perfect videos to help get you in the mood for the Halloween season!
Facing Our BIGGEST FEARS For Fashion (with NCS) | PAQ Ep #52 | A Show About Streetwear & Fashion | PAQ
Okay, okay, okay… We might be taking a bit of creative license with this video, but after sweets, costumes and pumpkin carving, what says “Halloween” more than getting scared? PAQ are a group of friends from London who make exciting videos every week about the worlds of youth culture, streetwear and music.
In this video, the PAQ boys face up to their biggest fears to help promote the National Citizens Service – or NCS, as it’s better known. Be they snakes, surgery, heights or irrelevancy in the face of an increasingly social media-driven world, the video is something a bit different and is an interesting take on something we see a lot of this time of year.
10 Mum Tips for the BEST Halloween! | MOTHERHOOD | AD | Sprinkleofglitter
While we all look forward to Halloween each year, it’s safe to say that, for most of us, our love for it started when we were children. In this Halloween-themed video, Louise Pentland offers up some great tips for parents looking to host the perfect Halloween party for their children. It’s as lovely as it sounds and will fill you with nostalgia of when you would go to similar parties with your friends. (While also having to be home by 21.00, as it was always a school night.)
The best thing about this video? Louise’s tips aren’t limited to children’s parties! Take a few of them for yourself to help ensure your next Halloween party is the talk of the town.
