We don’t know what it is about twins and YouTube, but no one can argue that Lucy and Lydia Connell aren’t two of the most fun and energetic creators around. They’re an unstoppable force with so much going on that we’re left wondering how they’re still standing! From their impeccable makeup tutorials to their gorgeous Disney vlogs, we can’t help but smile at their infectious joy.
Here are our nine favourite Lucy and Lydia moments!
When they covered Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You…
After teasing about a secret project, Lucy and Lydia revealed their stunning cover of Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You, featuring a gorgeous beach, a Riverdale-esque retro diner and impeccable wardrobe. Their cover seamlessly interweaves verses from Sia’s Cheap Thrills and Little Mix’s Touch into the pumped up arrangement.
The sisters bring so much joy that we wish we could live with them in the world of the music video.
…And viewed their old covers
The only thing that could make Lucy and Lydia’s Shape of You cover better is seeing how far they’ve come since they first began. The twins revealed their first foray into YouTube back in 2009 was with covers of them singing popular songs. They cringe their way through this hilarious video, reacting to some old covers that they assure viewers can longer find anywhere on the internet.
We have many questions after watching this, mostly about Lucy’s hair.
When they published their first book
After two (!!) years of keeping it a secret, Lucy and Lydia ecstatically revealed they were releasing their first book, titled Find The Girl. While it’s a fictional story, the pair drew from their own lives for inspiration while writing, which is evidenced by the characters being identical twins.
The novel was released this past July. Can we hope for a sequel announcement soon?
When they showed off their Descendants look
The twins’ channel is filled with gorgeous Get The Look videos, but one of our all time favourites would have to be their Descendants makeup and clothing looks. They explain the step-by-step process of transforming into two characters from the movie. You could easily win any costume contest with this flawless tutorial.
When they explained their five minute looks
We adore their Get The Look videos, but sometimes we just have to get out the door. Thankfully, we have this video, explaining some fast, everyday looks that are perfect for a basic day at work or school. Lydia’s tip for easy eyeliner is amazing for anyone who struggles with an even line, by which we mean everyone!
When they took on a song challenge
It’s the ultimate sibling rivalry with this four-way twist on the classic Whisper Challenge.
Lucy and Lydia go up against Jack and Conor Maynard to take turns lip reading song lyrics read by each other. What were they competing for, you ask? Well, it was a brilliant, if twisted, prize: getting to smash an egg over the heads of the three losers.
When they vlogged their move
What we love most about this vlog is that it starts with the harsh reality of what an almighty pain moving is! It’s fun to see the messy process of the pair moving into their beautiful new flat. Even more delightful is the discovery of 15-year-old magazines and CDs the girls have been holding onto! It makes us wonder what sort of things are hidden away in our own closets.
When they went on a Disney Adventure Cruise
Lucy and Lydia have SO many Disney vlogs that it’s hard to pick a favourite, but one amazing video is their vlog of the Disney Adventure Cruise. They started at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, then embarked on a stunning Caribbean Disney cruise. It’s 16 minutes of fun, sun and delicious food!
When they starred in a Linda Blacker photoshoot
It’s so fun to see the behind-the-scenes looks into Linda Blacker‘s iconic photoshoots. The amount of time and work that goes into creating and telling the story each portrays is unbelievable, and the final product is always beyond worth it.
We do have to agree with their conclusion: getting to dress up like a princess for the day truly is a dream.
So there you have it…
Our nine favourite Lucy and Lydia moments. After writing this article, we have a shopping list as tall as ourselves to get cracking at. Can you put a Disney cruise on a shopping list? Just asking for a friend…
