New football season alert!
There’s a lot of money in football, some say too much. (They’d probably be right.) The merry-go-round of transfers has concluded and we’re on to the bit that’s important, the actual football. Pure athleticism. It’s even more impressive considering the World Cup only finished four weeks ago. Some may say they’re animals.
On a completely separate note, the #SongOfTheWeek is Troye Sivan‘s Animal. Listen to it now!
On with the Round-Up!
The greatest photographer of all time (and what they taught me) | Craig Simmonds
We’ve all got heroes, people that we look up to for inspiration and guidance. For actors, it might be other actors. For writers, it might be other writers. For Craig Simmonds, a photographer, it’s a photographer. A specific photographer by the name of Garry Winogrand. (Great surname, btw.) Winogrand was a street photographer with an ability to get in with the public to show a side to bustling city life that few have been able to capture before or since.
Craig is a huge fan of Mr. Winogrand’s work, having written his university dissertation on it. The passionate exhalation of his fandom throughout this video is emphatic and contagious. It’s a true joy to witness passion in any of its many forms.
asdfmovie11 | TomSka
Can you believe that asdfmovie is 10 years old?! We can’t.
Whilst at Summer in the City this past weekend, Tom Ridgewell and his team at Turbo Punch released the newest instalment of the genre-defining cartoon. There are a whole bunch of new characters and in-jokes for everyone to dive into. There’s butts, there’s buttons and there’s complete insanity. Something for everyone in the family.
Internet Friendships | AMillionMadMusings
In the age of the internet, the term “friendship” has become increasingly more malleable to encompass so many different things. Gemma Dunnell is here to talk about just how wonderful having friends on the internet can be, especially when meeting them in real life. Gatherings are a godsend and good for the soul. Take away the commercialism of Summer in the City and you’ve got yourself a good time that’s great for the soul.
The Pengest Munch Ep. 20: Pepe’s (Palmer’s Green) | Chicken Connoisseur
The Chicken Connoisseur is back!
A new episode of the viral sensation is in our sub boxes and we’re so incredibly happy about it. Elijah Quashie has some incredible creps, getting them checked in right at the beginning. There’s chicken, chips and all manner of paper plates. The food looks real tasty and, yes, we are salivating just thinking about it.
Mike Trueman has a freakout… | Lap It Up | Matt Amys
What better way to close off this week’s Round-Up than with watching Michael Trueman try his hand a driving a car on Matt Amys‘ Lap It Up series?
If you thought Mike would an excellent driver, we suggest rethinking your logic. Off the bat he informs viewers he has absolutely no experience driving, which is proven by how he takes the two laps. We’ll admit, aside from his slow start on lap one, he took the course pretty well, only landing in the grass a few times. The second lap, however… We’ll let you watch to see how it all turns out.
It was an entertaining ride, that’s for sure!
Want more? If you insist…
A incredibly interesting part of the new Premier League is the Wolverhampton Wanderers, a club that’s bought on a lot of players who wouldn’t normally go to newly-promoted sides. This is because of super-agent Jorge Mendes. Mendes has relationships with half of the footballing world and has used them to get European Championship-winning footballers to move to Wolverhampton. The Football Republic goes to the ground to talk to the people in the know, getting the lowdown on what Mendes has done for the club.
Moving out on your own is, for the most part, a fun and exciting new chapter in one’s life. Amy Paphitis has done just that, moving into an apartment that’s got us all incredibly jealous. This video takes us around the place, giving her ideas on what she wants to do with it. With it currently unfurnished, the possibilities are endless. We can’t wait to see how it turns out, especially the massive lounge!
These days, most people do some sort of editing to their photos before posting them to social media. Harriet is no different, taking us through her editing process while also showing us the before and after versions of some of her most recent posts. These sorts of “peeling back the curtain” videos are important, especially by creators with a younger audience. Everyone edits their photos, so knowing that helps to understand that no one is perfect.
Millie T has been making videos for a long time, and recently uploaded a giving back video. She has had success many creators would love to have and, due to that, she is able to help out family members. In this video, she gives two of her cousins £500 each to do whatever they like. We won’t spoil the video, but watch it for all of the different things that they do – very sweet.
