They say opposites attract…
As Hazel Hayes says, “If you like dodie, you probably won’t like my content.” Despite their different vibes and content styles, these two have become super close over the past few years. As flatmates and best friends, they’ve shown us that maybe they aren’t all that different. From supporting each other on social media to giving us advice with their collab videos, it’s a delight to experience their banter and love at every turn. In fact, we’re so obsessed with their friendship that we decided to dedicate an entire article to it.
Here are the six times Hazel and dodie were total BFF goals!
When they shared their musical talents with us
Several years and hair colours ago (we’re looking at Hazel), dodie and Hazel covered several songs together on each other’s channels. On Hazel’s, we got to hear a gorgeous rendition of Bon Iver’s Skinny Love, alongside dodie’s delightful ukulele and harmonies, while on dodie’s channel the two covered Dream A Little Dream Of Me in an unfairly cute video. As for the rest? Well, that’s YouTube history!
When they announced they were moving in together
Way back in January 2016, Hazel and dodie announced they were moving in together! They’ve been flatmates for years now and have supported each other through thick and thin. The flat’s now been immortalized as the background for countless videos and numerous Instagram posts.
We wish our flatmates were as cool as these two!
When they got a little magical
At this point, it’s practically a YouTube rite of passage to be the subject of one of Linda Blacker’s exquisite YouTuber Fairy Tales, and dodie and Hazel were two of her first subjects. However, instead of teaming up, they were pitted against each other as Snow White and the Evil Queen.
It was a joy to see the magical twist on our resident determined queen and beautiful princess.
Their Valentine’s Day baking adventure
dodie and Hazel are known for teaming up together for videos and one of our all time favourites would have to be this largely improvisational Valentine’s Day baking video.
If you’re one of the many who are thinking, “Baking shouldn’t be improvisational…” Well, you’re right. Baking and improvisation don’t normally go hand in hand. Yet here we are, with what is definitely some kind of baked good and a lovely friend to share its deliciousness with.
Love advice… And baking?
Surprise! The pair didn’t film just one video during their baking adventure, but two!
While those baked goods were in the oven, Hazel and dodie decided to answer some Valentine’s Day-themed questions from Twitter. As usual, they gave us funny, encouraging and genuinely useful advice about love and dating.
We thank them for showing us how to approach people we fancy: generally, from the front.
When they write Instagram posts about each other
There are few things as touching on the internet as a truly moving Instagram letter. Recently, both Hazel and dodie poured their hearts out to each other, expressing the gratitude they have for their years-long friendship and support. May all of us be so lucky as to have friends whose souls fall this close to ours.
How do we find a friendship like this?
Seriously, is someone able to tell us how to befriend someone who’ll love and support us as much as these two love and support each other? They’re seriously #FriendshipGoals and we’d love to have the same type of friendship they have.
