You don’t get to become a GQ contributing editor without some serious style points, and Jim Chapman has been collecting those points since 2010. Whether it’s a formal or casual occasion, Jim is always owning a look.
Suit up!
Dashing, sophisticated, timeless – just three words that spring to mind whenever we see Jim in a suit. There have been quite a few suits in his wardrobe over the years for a myriad of occasions, but for us nothing beats how this classic black tux screams James Bond. Wouldn’t he be the perfect 007 whenever Daniel Craig steps down?!
The jacket we all need
WE. LOVE. THIS JACKET. From the classic blue denim to the Rock ‘n’ Roll imagery, its eye-catching design calls out to our gothic souls. Everyone deserves a quality denim jacket that’s stylish and fun, and makes a statement. Frankly, this jacket is all we need.
He’s not just about the high-end
It’s heartbreaking to see an outfit you love total up to a cost so out of your budget you’d need to win the lottery to afford, but we’re all about Jim’s High Street vs High End series, where he advises us how to achieve a similar look, or vibe on a smaller bank balance.
We love Jim’s enthusiasm for finding a bargain, his stance on investing in products based on expected wearability, and how he articulates his advice to encourage his audience to mould the look to give them the most confidence.

Nobody does understated like Jim Chapman; he always feels very put together with minimal fuss, as though he just picked the first items he saw and chucked them on! The juxtaposition between the smart Ralph Lauren trousers and the crisp yet laidback denim allows this to be the perfect look for both the office and drinks in your favourite bar.
We don’t know about anyone else, but at TenEighty we’re super into those days when you can grab the first piece of clothing you see in your wardrobe and hop out of the house to do all those adult errands – and we love this look for just that. It’s a lot more relatable and certainly a look that’s doable for the rest of us!

He knows how to spruce an item up
Okay so, we all know Jim likes denim – it’s an article of clothing that features heavily in his looks throughout the year, and we’ve already featured it three times in this article alone! It’s a staple in pretty much everyone’s wardrobe but, as Jim notes in this guide, a lot of people “play it safe” – and we’re all a little bit guilty of this!
Jim’s advice to mix your image up and wear your denim jacket in alternative ways is useful, relatable and engaging. It empowered us to take our denim, step out of our comfort zones, and really show of the versatility of the fabric (just don’t feel bad if hearing ‘double denim” brings back Britney and Justin flashbacks!).
Hittin’ the catwalk
Looking effortlessly cool as we’ve come to expect from him, Jim no doubt owned the Dolce and Gabbana DG Millennials catwalk in January 2017. Featuring floral silk pyjamas combined with the sharpness of the cashmere coat, it’s a statement look that belonged on a designer catwalk.
Anyone who has read Jim’s GQ blog about the experience will know it’s a look he put together himself, a true testament to the respect from his peers and his own sense of fashion. We’re sure it’ll have caught the eye of plenty more in the industry.
Admittedly, those sandals nearly prompted us to pull this from the list, but if anyone can pull these off, Jim Chapman can!
The power couple
They say “behind every good man is a great woman”, and we think this completely applies to Jim and Tanya Burr in the fashion world.
The YouTube power couple just had to have some serious style envy-inducing clobber in their wardrobes, and we adore how their outfits always compliment and look exquisite together – Jim maintaining his understated cool whilst Tanya often adds the pop of pattern, or even vice versa, and they always slay their respective looks.
