Sorry to all you Liverpool fans out there!
This weekend saw a British football club reach the pinnacle of European football by being in the Champions League final against Real Madrid. It didn’t end well for them – their goalkeeper especially. A horror show.
Ironically, it was the one British player on the Madrid side, Gareth Bale, who really stuck the knife into the hearts of Liverpool fans around the world, with two goals, one of which was, arguably, the best ever goal seen in a Champions League final. Here’s to Brexit not ruining European football in the future, as it was a great game!
On to the Round-Up!
American Attempts Welsh Phrases & Words | Bradley Birkholz
Bradley Birkholz has been living in Cardiff for nearly four years now. Over that time, he’s picked up a lot of phrases and snippets of the beautiful Welsh language. In this video, he goes through some of what he’s learnt. He gives us his pronunciations of certain Welsh phrases, which are either right on the money or closer than most people. Croeso i Gymru, Bradley.
He also tells about certain phrases in English that the Welsh are known for. If you’re a fan of Gavin and Stacey – which you should be – you’ll recognise certain ones like “now in a minute”.
For those not aware of the Welsh language, it’s a fascinating watch. For Welsh people, it’s always going to be appreciated when outsiders make the effort to try and learn their language. Here’s hoping Duolingo improves for you, Bradley.
Do We NEED A Han Solo Origin Story? | Jack Howard
Solo: A Star Wars Story has just arrived in cinemas around the world to middling amounts of acclaim. It’s the first Star Wars film to come out in about six months and, funnily enough, it’s been about that amount of time since we last saw a new Jack Howard video in our subscription boxes. The stars have aligned and we’ve got both of them at the same time.
Jack is known for being open with his opinion on film, both bad and good. The Social Network and Back to the Future, good. Suicide Squad, bad. This time around, he talks about the question that is the title of the video. He posits a number of different points, none of which will be spoilt in this article. Watch the video after watching the film and see if your thoughts match up or not.
PAINTING Meghan Markle – Royal Wedding Dress | BananaJamana
The Royal Wedding was a wonderful time and a great escape from all that is wrong with the world. To commemorate the union of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Jamie Jo has created a wonderful painting using a mixture of oil and acrylic paints. (And we are BLOWN away.)
The exquisite dress has been replicated perfectly here, with all the right shadows to create something so realistic. She managed to capture the happiness plastered across Meghan’s face throughout the whole day.
Future royal portrait painter?
Life After University – A Year On | CoraalFrancis
The uncertainty surrounding new university graduates can be scary and unnerving after having the crash mat of education for at least 16 years at that point. Trust us, we know. Thankfully, Coral Francis is here with a video to share with us her journey a year on from graduation.
She gives her story as a way to help out people in similar positions, offering tips and tricks for all who want them. It’s a pretty helpful video, and we recommend every student give it a watch.
MY NEW APARTMENT! | Estée Lalonde
There is definitely such a thing as apartment envy and we know this because of this exact video. Estée Lalonde gives us a look around her new place, which, simply put, is stunning. It has incredible views and an open plan feel, which gives the illusion of huge amounts of space, something that is a premium in a big city like London.
This video is very relaxed, which reflects the calming nature of the apartment’s decor, with many muted tones throughout. Estée tells us that it’s a work-in-progress, but we’re sure that there’s a lot of people who would question what’s left to do!
You know we can’t stop at just five…
Finding makeup that is good and works for your skin is hard and can be expensive. Stephanie Toms has decided to throw all of that hard work out of the window by revisiting all of her least favourite products and using them once more before throwing them out. She’s done this as a way to reinforce just how bad they really are, especially when lumped all together. You’ve been warned, take note of these products.
Tom Ridgewell has really changed what Q&A means – it’s now NSFW. Sike, not really. He’s decided to answer 50 questions, which is nice of him. He’s also decided to purposefully give false answers for 25 of them, which is not so nice of him. The game of this video is to try and work out which ones are truths and which are lies. Enjoy this hot out of the oven CONTENT.
Evie Clark wasn’t born in the 80s or even the 90s, but she’s giving us major throwback vibes with her outfit choices for this video, which shows us “a day in the life of a teenage YouTuber”. With beautiful shots of bluebell woods and some choice footage of her feeling awkward filming in front of judgy old women, this one is a real mixed bag of stuff.
Emma Blackery is back again with her latest music video for her song Agenda. This one shows Emma in a glass box in a museum for people to gawp at. Throughout, she disposes of that glass box and goes about telling someone that she’s “not part of your agenda”. An interesting video for a song with a very catchy chorus.
