Teeyana Aromi spills the tea on why, in order for us to move forward, we need to get started straight away.
Within the space of a couple of minutes, Teeyana teaches us a big lesson in her latest video. Get your notebook out because you’re going to want to take notes!
In Be “S#*T”! Teeyana tells us her views on why we need to get up and go – not tomorrow, or the day after that, but today. Yes, you heard that right – now is the time to go and get on that project you have been daydreaming about.
She begins by telling us her reasoning behind the video. As with many YouTube videos, it came from a conversation she had with a friend, who is an aspiring singer. She felt she needed to be at a certain point in her life before she felt ready to pursue singing. We’ve all done this at some point in our lives – how many times have we said “when I get this, I will be able to do this”, or “one day I will be able to earn enough to achieve this”?
When Teeyana heard this, something clicked, and she realised just how common this feeling is to people in the early stages of their careers. She advised her friend to “literally just start – why are we always waiting to have money, to have equipment, have tools?”
Teeyana pointed out to her friend that there was nothing stopping her from uploading a short video of herself singing on Instagram or YouTube, while her friend listed many reasons why she hasn’t, like needing a producer in order to make these things happen.
This video argues that starting today and using what you have is key. Take starting a YouTube channel, for example – many of us may want to start our own channel but feel like we need a specific camera or equipment to do so. In reality, you can start just using your phone!
In Teeyana’s words, the aim of the video is to explain why you should “stop waiting for you to get in line before you start something” and just do the thing, and we have to say we agree. In short, “stop waiting to have it all figured out, stop waiting to have money, stop waiting to have equipment” and “just get started with what you have”.
If Teeyana’s words aren’t making you want to chase your dream right now, we don’t know what will!
