He may not have posted in a year, but we’re still completely obsessed with Crabstickz!
It’s one of the biggest debates on the internet right now: who is the best Chris? The fight is usually between Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, and Chris Pine, but we think the OG Chris (and winner) is without a doubt Chris Kendall!
We admit Chris doesn’t post as much as we wish he did, but whenever he does give us the goods we’re always rolling around on the floor with laughter. Here are eight times he made our days and left us in awe of his talent.
When he introduced Becca Hodgekins
Becca, YouTube’s most relatable fangirl, is sorely missed! A perfect parody of our fave vloggers, the character of Hodgekins is an excellent persona for Chris to show off his comedic timing and character-led performance. Whether it’s professing her love for One Direction, the awkwardly bad editing, or mocking best friend Saskia, there’s nothing we don’t love about a Becca vlog!
His unique Q&As
Are you even a YouTuber if you don’t entertain the occasional Q&A? Chris’s trademark sarcasm truly makes his Q&As some of the very best. A parody of other Q&As where the answers are taken far too seriously, there’s nothing that cannot be turned into a joke or a snarky remark, often at the expense of himself…
Oscar’s Hotel (and all his collaborations with KickThePj)
Frequent collaborator PJ Liguori really seems to bring out the best in Chris, doesn’t he? Oscar’s Hotel is such a standout in creator filmmaking that we just HAD to include it – a beautiful blend of fantasy, mystery, comedy, and suspense, this is a classic to be cherished. Sadly, the mini-series is seemingly no longer available on Vimeo, unless you already purchased it… but you did that, didn’t you? So not to worry!
Honourable mentions to the pair’s sleepover, the hyping of the KickTheStickz ship, the train we wish could last forever, and the best use of Photo Booth in history. We’re a little bit obsessed with each and every video that features these two!
The WHIPPED pilot
WHIPPED, an independent comedy series from Koto Films, wasn’t the content we were expecting to see on Crabstickz’s channel, but boy oh boy are we glad this actually happened! The pilot – relaunching Crabstickz with a focus towards scripted comedy – set the bar for scripted content, striking a balance between hilarious and awkward (honestly, how many of us would literally be Nathan?), yet absolutely raunchy and almost ironically sweet.
As another showcase for Chris’s acting ability and comedic chops, putting his cheeky sense of humour in a fictional sex shop in Soho was always going to be a recipe for something special. But we also loved how WHIPPED was executed, from the episode itself to the bonus “product introduction” shorts – it just had everything we love here at TenEighty HQ. We only wish Chris and Koto Films released more! (Just don’t watch this if you’re at work, or in school, or under 15! Please, we beg you!)
I Can’t Even
YouTube legends? Check. Geek references? Check. Quiz format? Check.
A fantastic series that ended all too soon, I Can’t Even is without a doubt one of those videos we keep going back to – we love seeing some of our favourite creators engaging in some good old quizzing. That, and they give us a lot of cosplay envy!
This advert for Harrogate
We never knew how much we wanted a Harrogate tour from Chris and Mother Kendall, but when this was released in 2013 all we knew was that we needed it! A pure and hilarious joy from start to finish, we fell even more in love with Chris for his heartwarmingly sweet adoration of his mum, whilst maintaining his Crabstickz persona, and it was marvellous to see Chris’s mum become involved in the silliest of jokes. She’s a true legend and we’d quite like her to adopt us!
(Also, a Harrogate tour with Chris is definitely on our bucket list!)
The best date ever
Who wants to go on a date with Chris? We most certainly do, and we’re quite proud to say we passed this test on the first go! This interactive date is full of the Crabstickz humour we love, with more twists and turns than a series of Game of Thrones. We’ve no doubt the real deal would be even more fun!
Twister with the Fantastic Foursome
What’s not to love about this video? It features four of our YouTube baes – Chris, PJ, Daniel Howell, and Phil Lester – as well as the best game from our childhood! This nostalgic little gem is still one of our favourite videos and we love its lighthearted, fun tone, as well as how it showcases the best friendship group to ever grace YouTube. We nearly always fall down into a Fantastic Foursome rabbit hole immediately after watching it! (Not that we’re complaining!)
That time he was actually serious
Chris isn’t just a hilarious soul, he’s also an incredibly smart and considerate one, and sadly, he doesn’t get enough credit for this. This video is probably as deep as it’s gotten for him so far, and his sincerity and intelligence shines. It’s incredible to see someone be so honest about their struggles to constantly be funny and create content – we’d love to see more of this side of him!
So there we have it…
Eight examples to settle the debate once and for all – Chris Kendall is the best Chris! We miss Crabstickz a lot, for he’s an immensely rewatchable talent who we’d love to see back in our subscription boxes soon! (Chris, don’t make us beg.)
