What’s cookin’, good lookin’?
While the weather is still awful, our favourite thing to do – aside from binging YouTube videos, of course – is to bake treats. Some of our favourite YouTubers have a great talent for coming up with their own incredible creations, while others follow recipes, but all are delicious.
So if, like us, you like YouTubers and tasty baked goods, we have the perfect compilation of videos to get you inspired in the kitchen. Get the mixing bowl and spatula out, set up your laptop on the counter, and join us for Five of the Best: Baking Videos.
Funfetti Cupcakes | Zoella
Zoe Sugg is a queen in the kitchen – when we see her baking in her vlogs we get so hungry! All of her recipes are delicious but our favourite just has to be these adorable funfetti cupcakes. Colourful and cute, just like our Zo, these are the perfect treat to bake on a rainy day.
In this video, Zoe bakes vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and colourful sprinkles. We’re not the best of bakers, but her clear and helpful instructions are super easy to follow. Honestly, we don’t know what we’re more jealous of – her fantastic skills or her rose gold KitchenAid. Now, let’s get the vanilla essence and get started on these!
COWNIE | Brownie Cake – Topless Baker
Matt Adlard is our favourite topless baker. (Yes, it was very hard to choose.) He always comes up with brilliant creative ideas and this cownie (cake-brownie, get it?) is a perfect idea. When you take delicious cake and add tasty brownie, there is just no way it can go wrong.
In this video, Matt takes us step by step through making this gigantic cake so we’re pretty sure we could tackle it. He uses his mum’s brownie recipe for the chocolate brownie and vanilla for the cake, and the final product looks fantastic! We can’t make up our minds… what’s yummier, the cake or Matt?
Vegan Chocolate Cornflake Cakes! | Lex Croucher
Lex Croucher is always there to give us fantastic suggestions for veggie eating. One of our favourites is these delicious, simple, and alliterative chocolate cornflake cakes. They’re completely vegan, only require four ingredients, and best of all you don’t even need to bake them!
In Lex’s usual hilarious style, she talks us through the steps for making these little cornflake cakes. Thanks to her clear instructions we succeeded in making these first time round! High five? Anyone?
How To Make British Pancakes | Daniel Howell
Daniel Howell and Phil Lester’s baking videos have featured on TenEighty many times. Their attempts throughout the years have been truly disastrous, but we are here to remind you where it all started: the phancakes. Delia Smith, the fricking ladle, the old Manchester flat, those fringes… we’re super nostalgic watching this video!
The recipe itself is pretty simple – just your classic pancakes for Pancake Day or a lazy Sunday morning. You just need flour, eggs, milk, and butter to create these delicious treats. We’ve tried this one a few times and we can now even flip the pancakes in mid-air. Happy cooking!
Baking Snickers Salted Caramel Cookies | Tanya Burr
We couldn’t have a baking best-of and not include Tanya Burr. She has published several cookbooks and she’s basically a baking goddess. She has collected friends and family’s recipes and created some of her own to compile perfect collections! One of her most recent baking videos is this, for Snickers salted caramel cookies.
Tan’s filming style and editing is a pleasure to watch and it’s sooo aesthetically pleasing. We wish we had all the cute little bowls and measuring implements she’s using… and the pink KitchenAid! We absolutely cannot wait to try baking this.
So there you have it…
