We would say “new year, new us”.
But we’re two weeks into 2018 and we can all see that’s not true… For now. Oooh, “for now”. That’s slightly cryptic, isn’t it? Don’t worry, nothing is changing; we only say “for now” because who knows what’s going to happen – we still have the whole year ahead of us!
Okay, we’ll stop rambling. Here’s this week’s Round-Up!
Why Do Men Commit Suicide? | CharlieVlogs
We’re kicking things off this week with Charlie Vincett‘s newest video, but don’t let the title or the video length scare you, it’s a good one.
In 2018, Charlie is launching a new series, which, based on this video, is going to be amazing. We felt the need to celebrate it, and what better way to celebrate a new series than to have it kick off the Round-Up?! And what better way to start the Round-Up than with a video on toxic masculinity!
The Value of a Like | doyouknowellie
There are two types of people in this world: those who scroll through social media “liking” posts all willy-nilly without actually thinking about it, and those who take the time to take in what they’re seeing and only tap the heart button when they truly enjoy a post. Whichever type of person you are doesn’t really matter, but it sparks a bit of a debate: what does a “like” mean? What is its value?
On her YouTube channel, Elisa Spigariol started the conversation earlier this week. Hearing what it means to her and the value it holds really got us thinking. While we haven’t quite sifted through all of our thoughts, it’s an interesting thing to think about.
A La La Land Tour of Los Angeles | Evan Edinger Travel
While not everyone cried while watching La La Land, some definitely did – *cough cough* us – and just when we thought we weren’t completely obsessed anymore, Evan Edinger went on an adventure around LA to show both us and dodie all the film’s locations.
Hear a noise in the distance? Don’t worry, that’s just us screaming.
Do We Need Trigger Warnings? | Rowan Ellis
If you’re looking for content that makes you think, Rowan Ellis is your girl. She’s always offering up thought-provoking content that’ll leave you pondering your own opinions on the issues and topics she brings up.
This week, Rowan’s discussing trigger warnings, and whether they’re good or bad. They’re already being used in broadcast journalism and with certain content on TV, but should they be further incorporated into everyday life?
How to Raise Your Very Own Pelican | Thelaserbearguy
Have you ever looked at a pelican and thought, “Wow, I wish I had one of these as a pet?” If so, you’ve probably wondered how you would raise one. Well, you’re in luck. This week, Matt Ley teaches us how to raise a pelican, just in time for you to go get your new pet!
And trust us, there’s no judgement here. They’re quite cute, after all, and if we could, we’d own one as well!
Want more? We’ve got you covered.
The guest slot on Tom Scott’s channel features Rikki Poynter talking about sign language. Make sure to turn your subtitles on because you’re going to need them!
Chanel Ambrose has posted a couple of really good videos this week, so it was hard for us to decide which one to include. After much internal debate, we’ve chosen her wonderful BooHoo haul.
The Midnight Beast took us all along to their live set from the Scala, hosted by Facedown.
Helen Anderson almost didn’t get a new tattoo this week, but she did and we love it! The story behind it is heartwarming, as well.
