Place We Were Made, which was released in August 2017, received its first play on Alice Levine’s afternoon Radio 1 show on 6 January, receiving comparisons to early an Taylor Swift, Ellie Goulding, and Birdy, whilst a pre-recorded interview with Maisie cited Swift as “the reason she started writing”.
Maisie has met success amongst the YouTube community for her dreamy soft pop vocal style and acoustic storytelling, with BBC Introducing describing how her style comes from her “love of the literature of F. Scott Fitzgerald, as well as being influenced by artists such as Lorde and Taylor Swift”.
