This isn’t the kind of “wrapping” Twist and Pulse are used to!
For anyone who has exhausted their collection of festive DVDs, Ashley ‘Twist’ Glazebrook and Glen ‘Pulse’ Murphy have something up their sleeves that’ll help viewers hold on to the holidays.
Christmas Spirit is a 30-minute short musical film that follows the story of Ashley and Glen as they’re enlisted to wrap presents in the North Pole by an overzealous Christmas elf, played by Ben Rawlings.
Apparently elves get sick just like humans do (including most of us at TenEighty HQ *sniffles*), so the pair find themselves being plucked from their dead-end day job handing out leaflets in turkey suits to work for the big man in red and white. They even get to send in a direct request for their dream Christmas present, too.
It’s a unique take on the classic Christmas story format, but unlike mainstream productions the humour and self-referential winks throughout give Christmas Spirit a distinct charm.
As well as numerous dance sequences, the short includes four original songs: Not Good Enough, Step By Step, Christmas Spirit, and Elf Theme. Each has their own distinct style and encapsulates different genres that are often synonymous with Christmas classics.
There’s a healthy dose of modern set pieces throughout – something for anyone who is a fan of the Twist and Pulse style, which they dub Streetomedy (Streetdance and comedy).
