Five of the Best: Christmas Videos 2017

It’s finally snowing, which can only mean one thing: the Christmas season is upon us!

It’s time to walk under the gorgeous lights at Camden Market, eat Christmas chocolates we can until we’re unable to move, and spend all hours of the night watching our favourite holiday movies! (Anyone up for coming over to watch Elf and The Grinch?)

We’re not the only ones who are massive Christmas fans – our faves are too! Each year, they treat us to a variety of festive videos, from song covers and makeup tutorials to baking tips and gift guides. They make our sub boxes the best gift of all, which is all we could ever ask for, and to celebrate, it’s time for Five of the Best: Christmas Videos! (2017 edition.)

Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas | SarahClose1

No festive Five of the Best would be complete without a Christmas cover, so of course we had to include Sarah Close‘s take on Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You. The song is pretty much a holiday classic and the first one that comes to mind when we think about Christmas music, so we were stoked to see Sarah’s video pop up in our sub boxes.

We have nothing to say other than we’re totally jealous of Sarah’s talent. This isn’t a song that’s easily sung, but Sarah killed it and managed to make it her own. You can guarantee we’ll be playing this cover on repeat all December long.

Edible Christmas Ornaments | Topless Baker

One of the first things we do when December rolls around is decorate the Christmas tree, and whilst we hate stringing the lights (why does it take so long?), we love putting up the decorations and making sure our tree totally beats that of Betty who lives down the street. She always thinks her tree’s the best, but newsflash, Betty, ours totally outdoes yours this year, and it’s all thanks to Matt Adlard.

For this video, Matt shows us how to make the most delicious (and pretty) edible tree ornaments. His orange cookie recipe paired with melted-down Jolly Ranchers for the stained-glass effect is something we’re totally here for, and we hope we don’t end up eating all the ornaments before Christmas Day… Who are we kidding, we probably will.

NOT MY ARMS GINGERBREAD CHALLENGE W/ TOM DALEY | Mark Ferris

One of our favourite holiday traditions is building gingerbread houses with our friends and family, and if we manage to not eat all the decorations, they normally turn out alright. However, we never considered attempting to make them whilst participating in the Not My Arms Challenge – that is, until we saw this video from Mark Ferris and Tom Daley.

Right off the bat, we found ourselves thinking this might be a disaster, but it went much better than we thought it would! Apart from Tom accidentally breaking a piece of his wall and Mark laughing whenever he attempted to give directions, they managed to make some pretty presentable gingerbread houses.

Also, can we take a minute to talk about the pair’s costumes? We never knew we needed to see Tom dressed up as Christmas tree, but now that we have, we want more!

EASY GLAM CHRISTMAS MAKEUP TUTORIAL + OUTFIT | WOC | Nellie Robert

Closing out this year’s festive Five of the Best is a makeup tutorial for those of you still struggling to pick the right look this holiday season. Everyone knows that Christmas parties are happening all month long, which means you have to look your best. Thankfully, you’ve got Nellie Robert in your corner to ensure all eyes are on you.

What can we say about Nellie’s look other than it’s eye-catching, glamorous, and everything you could possibly want for the holidays! The whole party will stop when you enter wearing this bold lip, and the eye makeup – complete with sharp eyeliner and silver glitter – will leave everyone awestruck. Overall, it’s a pretty stellar look, and when paired with Nellie’s dress is something we can see many viewers rocking this Christmas season.

Now that we’ve gotten you into the Christmas spirit, it’s time to grab some hot chocolate (with tons of marshmallows and whipped cream), put on your holiday playlist, and celebrate the festive season to the max! Just be careful not to drink too much mulled wine. We can say from experience that it’s not that great an idea….
