If there’s one thing you probably didn’t know about us, it’s that we’re pretty big video game fanatics.
It’s true! We might not look it, but when we’re not filling you in on the goings-on of your favourite creators, you can find us kicking some butt in Super Smash Bros. and exploring the nuclear wasteland in Fallout.
You know who else likes games? YouTubers, and many of them were over the moon about the release of Nintendo’s new mobile app, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. From its unique fish names to its luxurious camps, the game has many of our faves completely obsessed, and we decided to round up a few of our favourite reactions.
The anticipation was huge
really really really really really really really really really really REALLY REALLY REALLY can't wait to play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp pic.twitter.com/zhHEUtX9PD
— Connie Glynn (@noodlerella) November 20, 2017
Connie Glynn wasn’t the only one excited for the game’s launch. From our Twitter feed, it looked like many of our faves were eagerly awaiting the chance to build their own campsites!
Pale chub
Omg I caught myself on Animal Crossing pic.twitter.com/07JnrgvwBY
— Lucy (@LucyJaneWood) November 23, 2017
Lucy Wood isn’t the only one making this joke on Twitter. Who knew a fish could be so relatable to so many?
Animals are so picky
imagine people refused to come to your house like the characters in animal crossing
“sorry can’t come round tonight, you ain’t got a stripy sofa x”
— sam carr (@saamcarr) November 23, 2017
Running a campsite for animals is a lot harder than it looks. They’re a lot more demanding than we thought!
Just gonna quit uni
Gonna quit uni and find a way to move to my animal crossing camp because it's so cute and cosy and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have to write essays and meet deadlines if I was there pic.twitter.com/IcPOLnwAF2
— Luna (@Lunalxigh) November 22, 2017
We’re sure Luna Leigh isn’t the only one who wishes she could escape the stress of uni to live in her cute campsite. Video game life seems so much more simpler.
True love
I've just found out my boyfriend likes Animal Crossing and I have never loved another human as much as this pic.twitter.com/2E0wjt4wFn
— B I N K Y (@itsbinkybee) November 22, 2017
True love is when your significant other likes the same video games as you.
The big thumbs
why do the things in animal crossing all speak like the big thumbs in spy kids
— fiona 🌤 (@neonfiona) November 22, 2017
Leave it to NeonFiona to forever ruin Animal Crossing for us. We can’t get those big thumbs from Spy Kids out of our heads…
Goodbye forever
Just downloaded animal crossing on my phone so I guess this is goodbye forever
— Phil Lester (@AmazingPhil) November 21, 2017
Goodbye, productivity. Phil Lester‘s gone camping for awhile.
Excuse us?
what's animal crossing
— Ewan McIntosh (@Ewan_McIntosh) November 21, 2017
Umm, we’re sorry Ewan McIntosh, but what do you mean “what’s animal crossing“? Do you mean to tell us you’ve never played the game?! We’re sorry, but this is a dealbreaker for us.
The struggle is real
GUess what I have 16gb iphone so I can't play animal crossing I'm very sad
— Kelsey Ellison⚡️ (@KelseyEllison) November 21, 2017
Might we suggest getting a new phone with larger storage, Kelsey Ellison?
Kleptomaniacal furries
I'm losing my girlfriend to a bunch of annoyingly happy, kleptomaniacal furries who sing ALL. THE. TIME.
im strongly against animal cruelty but i could be easily swayed pic.twitter.com/5fFBKtqv3O
— Sammy (@SammyAlbon) November 23, 2017
We think Sammy Albon just hasn’t had enough time to experience the wonders of Pocket Camp. Maybe once he plays a bit more he’ll be on Linda Blacker’s side. (The kleptomaniacal furries would be happy.)
Who needs IRL friends when you have online ones?
I'm better at making friends in Pocket Camp than I am in real life.
— Joshua Temple (@Slogomanify) November 23, 2017
Does anyone know how make real-life friendships as easy as online ones? Both us and Josh Temple would love some pointers.
Serious decisions had to be made
It's a brutal world out there. pic.twitter.com/8onxmSOgRR
— Matt Ley (@Thelaserbearguy) November 22, 2017
It’s a tough world out there, especially for those of us who have phones without enough storage. Matt Ley isn’t the only one who had to make some pretty difficult app decisions.
Who else is ready to set up camp?
We know we are! We don’t think we’ve seen YouTubers go so crazy over a game, aside from perhaps Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Have you caught the Animal Crossing bug? Let us know how your camps are turning out by sending a tweet to @TenEightyUK!
