Is it just us or is YouTube home to makeup magicians?
From traditional makeup tutorials to tips on how to do the perfect SFX and costume makeup, YouTube has shown us some pretty talented makeup artists, one of whom is Cherry Wallis. For years, Cherry has been killing the YouTube game with her various makeup tutorials and left us with many a Halloween costume idea. If you asked us to pick which of her tutorials wowed us the most, we’d have a hard time coming up with an answer, which is why we’ve decided to highlight not just one, but eight!
Here they are: eight times Cherry Wallis’s makeup tutorials blew us away.
The Mummy
We’re starting off with Cherry’s most recent tutorial, where she gives her take on 2017’s The Mummy. There’s nothing we can say about this look other than we were absolutely blown away by it. How she managed to put so much detail into the runes is beyond us, and we love how she didn’t choose just one side of Princess Ahmanet. Instead, she decided to showcase both sides. It’s a unique and creative take on the character, and we love it!
The devil’s in the detail
For Halloween 2016, Cherry launched a tutorial series to help us prep for the spookiest day of the year. One of our favourites from the series would definitely have to be this devil look. We can’t get over how much of a impact this makeup has, from the deep red to the dimension of the added black. We wouldn’t want to run into devil Cherry anytime soon!
Hoot hoot
If you ever needed proof of how skilled Cherry is with a makeup brush, look no further than this owl tutorial. Teaming up with The Evermoor Chronicles, Cherry transformed herself from a human to a graceful owl. We were blown away by how much detail she managed to put into the feathers, and the added colour made the whole look pop!
What a ride!
It’s no secret that everyone’s favourite Halloween costume of 2016 was Suicide Squad‘s Harley Quinn, so of course Cherry had to show us how to get the look down to a tee. From the colourful eye makeup to cutesy blonde pigtails, Cherry managed to transform herself into the sassy comic villain we know and love. She totally made Margot Robbie proud.
Let’s put a smile on that face
Where there’s a Harley, you need a Joker, and what better rendition of the character than Heath Ledger’s version from The Dark Knight? We’re not going to lie, this look left us feeling pretty creeped out – if we didn’t know any better, we’d think we were really face to face with the Joker himself! Overall, this look put a smile on our faces.
Little Red, is that you?
Looking for a dark take on one of your favourite childhood fairytales? Then look no further than this 2015 makeup tutorial. Utilising her SFX magic, Cherry is able to show us what happens when the big bad wolf catches up with Red from Little Red Riding Hood. The results are jarring and we’re still left mesmerised at how realistic the scratches on her face look!
Zombified
Considering the way the world is going, it wouldn’t surprise is us if everyone was beginning to prep for a zombie apocalypse. Want to trick those zombies when they finally come your way? Then we suggest taking a few tips and tricks from Cherry. Her zombie look, complete with ample amounts of gore, will trick those brain-eaters long enough for you to show them who’s boss! Trust us, we’ve tested it.
Snapchat IRL
We never expected Snapchat filters to become as popular as they did, and we certainly didn’t expect them to inspire makeup tutorials! We’re surprised at how many of them are floating around YouTube, and one of them is Cherry’s take on the popular pop art filter. From her use of bright colours to the definition of her brows and lips, we’re left wondering if this is a makeup look or if Cherry is actually using the filter on her face!
So there you have it…
Our eight favourite Cherry Wallis makeup tutorials. We’re sure they impressed you all as much as they did us. We’re constantly surprised at just how much talent this girl has with a makeup brush, and we’re stoked to see what looks she comes up with next. Who knows, maybe she’ll help us with our costume for Halloween 2018?
