Whether you get it or you don’t, ASMR has taken YouTube by storm.
Wikipedia defines ASMR (or autonomous sensory meridian response) as “an experience characterised by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine” – basically, it feels amazing. Even if you don’t get the tingly feelings, the videos are still super soothing and relaxing, so what are you waiting for? Grab your headphones and settle in, it’s Five of the Best: ASMR Videos!
21 ASMR Triggers | Sounds Only No Talking | Brushing, Massage, Crinkles | WhispersRed ASMR
Let’s start at the beginning: do you get ASMR? Find out with this video from Emma Smith. Emma has prepared 46 minutes of common triggers with no talking. Everyone gets triggered by different things, so listen for a while and see if any of these sounds give you the tingles.
If you’d like to hear Emma’s voice, why not watch her roleplay of a hotel check-in. We promise, it’s more relaxing than it sounds…
ASMR | Relaxing Face and Scalp Massage | TheUKASMR
Absolute classics in ASMR videos are scalp and face massages. In this video, Chloe McClane gives us a relaxing pampering session, and it’s impossible not to sink into your chair as she does so. Chloe is a real master of the whispered roleplaying ASMR and she can make you feel like you’re in a spa, when you’re actually in the comfort of your home.
If you are looking to fall asleep, also check out her sleep clinic.
ASMR Helping You Sleep in a Tent (Relaxing Rain Ambience) | Scottish Murmurs ASMR
In our opinion, some of the best ASMR videos are the ones that have background noise. Let’s be honest, who hasn’t fallen asleep in front of a fireplace or to the pitter-patter of rain? In her wonderful Scottish accent, Lauren from Scottish Murmurs ASMR helps us wind down in a tent while it rains. Camping has never been so relaxing!
If you already know a few ASMRtists and want to have a laugh, watch her ASMR impersonations!
Haircut Roleplay | ASMR (Razor Sounds, Water Bottle, Scissors, Lotion) | Articulate Design ASMR
It’s not just women who make (and watch) ASMR videos, as Matt from Articulate Design ASMR shows us. One of our fave videos is his take on the classic hairdresser roleplay. Matt even includes shaving and it’s pretty weird how satisfying those razor sounds are, regardless of gender!
If that’s not for you, why not check out his face-mapping video?
ASMR Cranial Nerve Examination | ASMR Darling
Taylor Darling is arguably the queen of ASMRtists, with a stunning 1.2 million subscribers. Although she is from across the pond, this Five of the Best could not leave her out. For an introduction to her, why not watch her cranial nerve examination (again, less weird than it sounds) and relax as she takes you through the tests. Her soothing voice will be sure to relax you.
For the real insomniacs out there, you will not have a better chance out there of falling asleep than the four-hour ASMR triggers video she made when she reached a million subscribers. Happy sleeping!
