Where there’s a Jack, you’re sure to find a Dean.
We here at TenEighty HQ are massive comedy fans. We love anything that’ll make us laugh, whether it be a cute video of an animal doing something funny or a sketch by one of our favourite YouTubers, which is why it should come as no surprise that we’re huge fans of Jack Howard and Dean Dobbs.
Jack and Dean have been sharing their comedy on YouTube since the site’s early days. With sketches like New Wave Santa and Bathroom Talk, the pair grew their channel into what it is today: a goldmine of comedy sketches, where one look offers endless hours of laughter. During their time on YouTube, they’ve been a part of some pretty iconic moments, and we thought we’d share them with you.
So here they are: TenEighty’s nine favourite Jack and Dean moments.
Jack & Dean of All Trades
Jack & Dean of All Trades was the pair’s show on Fullscreen. Running for two series, it featured them working a variety of temp jobs. We don’t want to spoil anything if you have yet to watch, but we will say it includes many celebrity cameos, some pretty cool musical numbers, and a plot that includes armed robbery and breaking into prison.
What more could you want?
Their Drunk History appearance
Jack and Dean appeared on Comedy Central’s Drunk History earlier this year, during a World War Two skit about Operation Mincemeat. We honestly couldn’t think of a better pairing, having our favourite comedians appear on one of our favourite comedy shows – it’s a match made in heaven!

— Jack Howard (@JackHoward) August 2, 2016
One of our fave moments of 2016 was seeing the pair’s comedy show, Jack and Dean Live. Having performed at various venues over the years, as well as at Summer in the City and Reading and Leeds, the pair were in their element, enjoying each show to the fullest. From the Daniel Dobbs cameo to the various sketches, Jack and Dean Live was a show to remember and we hope they bring it back in the future.
Ghost Fighting Corporation
As part of New Form Digital’s Incubator series in 2015, Jack and Dean released Ghost Fighting Corporation. A pilot for a series we hope sees further development in the future, it focuses on the pair hiring someone who claims to know about the supernatural, but really only cares about taking advantage of stupid people.
Watch it. It’s good.
The Google duel
You’d think a video of two people trying to get a Google phone to say things for them would be dull, but you’d be very, very wrong.
From Jack’s blatant cheating in the first round to the pair stuffing themselves with marshmallows, Jack and Dean’s collab with Google is definitely one of our all-time faves. Seriously, we couldn’t stop laughing! However, we will say the odds were unfairly stacked against Jack in the final round. How on earth was he to get Google to say “spring roll”? We call foul.
The Good The Bad & The Just Plain Sh!t Parts
One of our favourite annual traditions on Jack and Dean’s channel is their The Good The Bad & The Just Plain Sh!t Parts series. It’s a yearly round-up detailing exactly what you’d expect: the good, the bad, and the just plain sh!t parts of the year. (It’s basically just Jack talking about which films he did and didn’t like.)
We also love when Mr. Howard and Mr. Dobbs make their appearances. Their moustaches and top hats are enviable. Balls deep, everyone. Balls deep.
The Internet Takeover
Daniel Howell and Phil Lester‘s Internet Takeover led to many YouTube creators making an appearance on BBC Radio 1, including Jack and Dean. There was nothing we loved more than listening to them on Monday nights, and when they made the odd appearance to play Innuendo Bingo. Man, do we miss hearing them on the radio…
One of our favourite moments of the Internet Takeover was the #NicerInternet campaign, which not only featured Dan, Phil, Jack, and Dean, but also Jim Chapman, Patricia Bright, Tom Ridgewell, Louise Pentland, and Charlie McDonnell working to make the internet a nicer place.
Consent
One of the catchiest (and most educational) jams of 2014 was Jack and Dean’s Consent, which taught listeners all about the concept of consent. Released at a time when the YouTube community most needed it, it’s a song we still find ourselves listening to on a regular basis. (Heck, we loved it so much that we included it in our Five of the Best: Anthems By YouTubers.)
While we still think that Jack and Dean could work on their dance moves, we’ll never pass up an opportunity to hear a Daniel Dobbs guitar solo.
The Hula Hoops spon
If you’re a crisp fanatic like ourselves, then you’ll agree that Hula Hoops are amongst the best the UK has to offer. What’s better than a ring-shaped crisp? Nothing!
You know who else shares this sentiment? Jack and Dean. In a sponsored video for the brand, the pair showed us all the useful ways Hula Hoops can be used. From keeping our fingertips warm to being the perfect anti-confrontation/breakup tool, we learnt that their best use (aside from being food) is as a crisp that prevents you from doing what needs to be done, which isn’t always a bad thing. We could all do with a break every once in a while.
(Hula Hoops, we’re always here if you want to sponsor us.)
So there you have it…
