The world is filled with beautiful art, fashion, architecture, and natural sites, from a diverse range of cultures.
Unfortunately, not all of us have the time – or budget – required to travel and see these many attractions. And while travelling can sometimes be done for cheap, the costs quickly add up, which is why we’re thankful the price of unlimited Wi-Fi is significantly lower than a plane ticket! Thanks to the internet, and travel vloggers like Louis Cole, we’re able to see everything the world has to offer, all from the comfort of our bedrooms – we like to think we’re well-travelled as a result.
Ready to revisit some of Louis’s adventures? Then grab a snack, your pillow, and a blanket, and let’s go!
Volcano adventure
Raise your hand if you have an interest in volcanoes that’s one part fascination with their beauty and one part terror over their destructive nature. Us too. And from watching Louis’s video of him climbing to the top (and nearly inside!) a volcano, we’d say he shares this interest as well.
Of course, you can’t visit the rim of an active volcano without some seriously epic background music and shots, and the combination of the production and the morbid beauty of the volcano make this video an absolute must-watch! Especially since we would be too scared of an actual eruption to go within two miles of any active volcano.
Kenyan safari
A safari makes that zoo trip we took in Year Seven look even worse in comparison and, as a result, we’re super jealous of Louis getting to see these majestic animals in their rightful habitat. Opening the video with a gorgeous sunrise, Louis documents as a tour guide takes him and the gang around. This is paired with stunning drone shots, which have us feeling some major travel envy – the one with the elephants still gives us shivers!
The world’s tallest building
You’ll be needing more than your average head for heights to climb Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, a.k.a. the tallest building in the world. It makes the Shard in London look like a baby! Here, Louis braves the dizzying heights to look out over the city’s stunning views. We’re super grateful, as the height makes this attraction one we definitely don’t fancy experiencing for ourselves.
Abandoned theme park in Bali
Theme parks are always great fun, but this abandoned one in Bali adds more than the usual dose of scary. Full of vegetation growing all around the old buildings, the park shows just how quickly nature can reclaim that which humans build. Louis and his friends take us on a journey down the winding paths and through graffiti-covered wreckages in this fascinating tour.
Dolphins
The idea of swimming with dolphins in a beautiful blue sea is positively fairytale material; we’re experiencing huge amounts of wanderlust from this video alone! We follow Louis to the Maldives, where he watches beautiful fish swim within a sunken boat and even spots a shark! (Scary.)
Hand us the dive mask, we’re ready to go for a dip in the ocean ASAP!
Summer solstice at Stonehenge
The summer solstice is the longest day of the year, when the sun is at its maximum elevation, and it’s had spiritual significance to a huge range of cultures and peoples across thousands of years. Although it’s not strictly a religious festival, thousands head to ancient religious sites to see the sunrise, and one of these sites is Stonehenge, due to an association with the Pagan concept of the Wheel of the Year.
History lesson over! In this video, Louis and his friends take a road trip to Stonehenge to watch the sun rise over the rocks. The atmosphere is filled with excitement, as those gathered play music, sing songs, and generally have a fairly relaxed party in celebration of summer. Also, this is one of the few times that the public can access the inner circle of stones and sit around them, so it has a wholly magical feel.
Cape Town views
From brightly coloured houses to stunning mountain scenery, Cape Town is the backdrop you want for a photoshoot. Here, Louis and Raya Encheva take us on a tour of all the best views of the South African capital, which has food just as gorgeous looking as the city.
The setting for our next cover shoot, perhaps?
The pyramids
The ancient pyramids in Egypt are one of the last remaining Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and their mystery and beauty have captivated all who have seen or read about them for millennia. During his World Flight series, Louis visited Egypt and explored the site. He even got to go inside, and managed to deliver shots that are truly out of this world!
Our project on the pyramids in primary school certainly doesn’t live up to the real thing.
A 15-hour train ride
For many of us, journeys aren’t exactly the highlight of a holiday. People say it’s not the destination but the journey that matters, but we’re in disagreement when it comes to cramped train rides with a baby screaming next to us. However, we’re convinced that this phrase rings true in Louis’s 15-hour train ride across America. This charming video features stunning scenery that makes us desperate to take the same journey.
Feeling inspired?
We certainly are! Louis sure does love to travel and, fortunately for those of us unable to, it doesn’t look like he’ll be stopping anytime soon! Not even for a few days. Who knows? Maybe we’ll be able to convince him one day to take us along for an adventure!
