Twenty-four year old YouTuber Elijah Quashie has signed up to present The Peng Life for the broadcaster.
Known as the Chicken Connoisseur on YouTube, Elijah is infamous for his chicken establishment review series, The Pengest Munch. Gaining as many as 2.5 million views a video, he reviews fried chicken shops around London to determine whether the chicken is “dead” or “peng.”
For his new show on Channel 4, The Peng Life Elijah will expand beyond reviewing only fried chicken. Experiencing “street and “elite” level food and fashion of all kinds, Elijah will meet up with celebrities to find the most “Pengest Luxuries”, while also judging whether more expensive food is worth it compared to its cheaper equivalent.
Elijah explains in a statement, “On YouTube I do the chicken ting, but now on Channel 4 I’m reviewing everything. The cheapest stuff to the most expensive stuff. Basically the deadest stuff you’ll ever find to the most expensive, baller status stuff. I’ll see if it’s worth the moolah. Hold tight.”
Channel 4’s Becky Cadman explains the signing of Elijah as an attempt to “bring his captivating presence to TV.” This highlights the broadcaster’s desire to bring Elijah’s half a million young viewers back to broadcast television from YouTube.
The Peng Life is set to air later in 2017.
