SORTEDfood has raised £20,000 from pledgers for a new book.
Cookery channel SORTEDfood‘s new cookbook, Desserts in Duvets, is now officially happening after the crowdfunding effort on Kickstarter surpassed its £20,000 goal just four days into the month-long campaign.

Barry Taylor, co-founder of SORTEDfood, expressed his excitement in the announcement video on Twitter: “It’s actually happened. We launched this on Monday and never expected for a second it would go over in four days.”
Desserts in Duvets will be SORTEDfood’s first physical cookbook since their publishing debut, Beginners Get… Sorted from 2012. Filled with popular recipes from the website and new exclusive ones for the book, every dessert in Desserts in Duvets is tested twice by the SORTEDfood team.
The new book sets itself apart by containing dessert recipes developed not only by the SORTEDfood team, but also by Kickstarter pledgers, who can contribute ideas, stories, and recipes. Barry explained, “You can get your own recipe in the book! You can come down to the studio, and get involved in the lifestyle shots!” Pledgers at every level will receive a version of the book and entrance into the Desserts in Duvets Club, and have their names printed on the back cover.

The main perk for people pledging £75 or more was “the opportunity to develop your own ultimate dessert recipe one-to-one with the SORTEDfood team”. This proved to be an extremely popular perk, with all ten places taken at the time of writing, but Ben Ebbrell, co-founder and chef at SORTEDfood, promises there will soon be “more of those up for grabs”.
Although the original aim of £20,000 has been surpassed, Ben explained, “We are going to carry on funding more as the campaign carries on, ’cause we can always make more stuff and make the book bigger and better than even we expected”
To continue the momentum for the remaining days of the campaign, Barry announced a new round of pledge tiers beginning on 3 September at 9pm. Those who have already ordered a book are encouraged to upgrade their pledge to receive the new rewards.
Desserts in Duvets is expected to be delivered by November 2017. The book is independently published and is only available through the Kickstarter campaign. Both ebook and hardcover versions are available for order from the campaign page.
