Grab your headphones and press play, it’s time to discover some new music.
YouTubers. We know them for their sketches and chatty vlogs, but did you know some of them have also made the leap into the world of music? It’s true! Whether it be pop, acoustic, or something in between, many of our faves are sharing their sound with everyone and anyone who will listen. And guess what? They’re pretty damn good. In fact, they’re so good that we thought we’d introduce you to a few of them.
If you’ve been meaning to add new music to your phone, then you’ve come to the right place.
Emma Blackery
It sure Sucks To Be You if you haven’t given Emma Blackery‘s music a listen.
No, but seriously, Emma is currently killing the music game. The release of her Magnetised EP not only saw her appear in the iTunes UK charts, but also afforded her another headlining tour! Emma’s catchy pop-rock sound will leave you tapping your toes during class or dancing in the middle of the street like nobody’s watching. (Even though everyone is.)
Need more convincing? Well, let us mention the time she opened for Busted and recorded a gorgeous acoustic duet with the band’s lead singer Charlie Simpson.
Libby Tidley
With a heart of gold and talent to boot, Libby Tidley most definitely deserves a spot on our list. Her YouTube channel is a mixture of covers and original music, and she is steadily making a name for herself with her acoustic prowess. Honestly, why can’t we be this talented with a guitar?!
Libby also isn’t shy about performing in front of a crowd. You can often find her performing at We’re Not Just Cats Records’ showcases, alongside her fellow label mates. We highly suggest you attend one. You’ll leave with a newfound appreciation for YouTuber music.
Cameron Sanderson
Having won YouTube NextUp 2016, Cameron Sanderson is well on his way to achieving worldwide success. If you’re looking for some catchy pop music to listen to, then we highly recommend giving him a listen. He recently released his new single Oh Love (featuring the lovely Christina Rotondo) and we’ve since been jamming to it in the office on the reg.
Need more convincing? He also does Hannah Montana covers.
Jas Ratchford
Looking for some ukulele music to calm your soul? Then Jas Ratchford is your gal!
Jas’s quirky and upbeat personality makes each video of hers – whether it be a cover or original song – a joy to listen to. For someone so young, she has a lot of potential, and we can’t wait to see where her voice and talent take her. Don’t be surprised to see her playing a stage near you in a few years.
Bry
If you haven’t heard Don’t Go Alone or Disarm by Bry then we definitely have a problem. Our favourite tall glass of Irish water has been sharing his music on YouTube for years, and the rewards for his hard work are manifold. He recently released his debut album to rave reviews (we gave it ten panda heads out of ten), and in 2016 he supported Twenty One Pilots on the European leg of their Emotional Roadshow tour! Crazy, right?! Not only that, but Bry’s also done numerous headlining tours, which have seen him tour throughout Europe and Australia.
He’s stolen YouTube’s heart and he’ll most definitely steal yours too.
Dodie Clark
We couldn’t possibly make a list about YouTube musicians without including Dodie Clark. Dodie’s been showcasing her musical prowess on YouTube for yearas, amassing quite a following in the process. From her humble beginnings of She and Adored By Him to the recent release of her new EP You, Dodie is a prime example of what musical success on YouTube looks like.
Be sure you don’t miss her on her upcoming tour!
Bethan Leadley
Whether it’s covers or original music you’re interested in, Bethan Leadley is the one for you. Bethan’s been showcasing her vocal talent on YouTube since secondary school, and man, has she developed one hell of a voice. How on earth does she reach those high notes?!
Recently, Bethan teased some new music at Playlist Live and released her new single All of You, which is a banger and a half, under the mononym “Leadley”. Here’s hoping she’ll drop a full EP within the next year!
Tom Rosenthal
You might not know who Tom Rosenthal is, but you’ve most definitely heard his work before. When not working on his own music, you can find him lending his musical genius to his fellow YouTubers. An example of this an be found in Bertie Gilbert‘s Let It Be, as well as in Bertie and Sammy Paul‘s Playground.
Over his time on YouTube, Tom’s released many albums, each as beautiful as the next. If you’re looking for some easy-listening indie music, then he’s definitely the musician for you. Trust us, you’ll be kicking yourself for having missed out on his talent all this time.
Sarah Close
Sarah Close has blown up over the past year, and it’s no surprise why. Her vibrant pop sound will leave you singing along for days. From covers of Selena Gomez and Katy Perry to originals like Call Me Out and Caught Up, Sarah has definitely grown as a musician over her time on YouTube.
Want to hear something exciting? Sarah recently signed a record deal and announced a headlining tour! How cool is that?!
Leslie Wai
Looking for something a bit different? Then Leslie Wai might just be the musician for you!
A Vine star turned YouTuber, Leslie is known for his versatility. Whether you’re in the mood for remixes, comedic originals, or even some electronica, it’s safe to say you’ll find something you like within Leslie’s catalogue. Some of our personal recommendations include Nocturnal (which you can listen to above) and our all-time fave, Amsterdam – it always manages to make us smile.
Have we given you enough to jam out to?
If your phone isn’t filled to the brim with new music by now, then we highly suggest you reevaluate your music taste.
