Miss SitC this year? Have no fear, TenEighty is here!
Summer in the City is the UK’s largest YouTube gathering and it’s a must-attend for any devoted YouTube fan. In true TenEighty style, we were there covering everything from panels to performances, but there’s no way we could cover everything. (We only have so much time in a day.) That’s why we’re bringing you this Five of the Best: Summer in the City 2017 – vlogs, tips, and memories from this year’s SitC, all from a host of our fave creators.
What are you waiting for? Let’s jump in!
Summer in the City 2017! 🎉 | Penguin Platform
Penguin Books had their usual stand at SitC this year, and their channel Penguin Platform uploaded a cute little vlog montage of their weekend! Penguin were selling and giving away books all weekend and even had some special guests make visits. Authors Clare Fisher and Imogen Hermes Gowar made appearances and gave some handy tips for aspiring writers in this video, and Connie Glynn even held a meetup and signed teaser copies of her upcoming novel, Undercover Princess.
In this video, we also hear what Daniel J. Layton, Harrison and Anderson Webb, Rowan Ellis, Hannah Witton, and Beckie Brown have been reading lately. Lots of great recommendations if you’re looking for some summer reads!
Summer in the City TIPS! | 2017 | Embly
Seasoned SitC veteran Emi Salida offers some super useful and important tips in this video, and while the event might be over for another year, it’s always handy to be prepared for next year or even other conventions! Emi covers everything (and we mean everything): keeping up-to-date throughout the day to ensure you don’t miss anything, making the most of the weekend, having enough money for everything you may want or need (we know how tempting all those merch stands can be), and what to do if you lose something or someone.
SitC can be scary for first-timers and we understand that – it’s a huge gathering in a gigantic convention centre, which can be daunting for some – so having some top tips from a friendly face like Emi can calm those pre-SitC jitters!
Summer in The City 2017 Day 1 | Evan Edinger Travel
Honourary Englishman Evan Edinger covers the fast-paced madness that is being a YouTuber at Summer in the City in this vlog. Merch, meetups, and Smash Bros. tournaments are just a few highlights of the event that Evan shows, and it makes us wish we could relive the weekend all over again!
If anyone has counted the amount of dabs in this video, we’d love to know. It must be in the hundreds, at least…
Summer in the City 2017 | TheRealAlexBertie
Here to show us the queer side of SitC is Alex Bertie! Along with boyfriend Jake Edwards, Alex and this vlog showcase the panels, diversity, and friendliness of Summer in the City in their purest form. The clips dedicated to his fans are adorable, and the amount of glitter, rainbows, and flower crowns is honestly impressive.
Alex also shows a clip of Jake on the Musician on YouTube panel, as well clips of the Gender Identity and Couples & Relationships panels.
Summer in the City 2017! | PetesJams
Always smiley, Pete Bucknall gives us possibly the most positive, high-energy SitC vlog EVER, and it’s the perfect round-up of the weekend! Panels, meetups, performances – there’s everything you could possibly want from a Summer in the City recap. There’s even a soppy love letter message to SitC thrown in there to jerk a few tears from any YouTube dinosaurs watching.
A perfect end to a wonderful weekend!
So there you have it…
