Emma Blackery brought fire to the Main Stage of Summer in the City 2017 on Saturday night. If you missed the show, or just wanted to relive it, we’ve got you covered!
This girl needs no introduction. Having been on the music scene since she was a foetus, she’s a true stage veteran!
As the hour drew near, people (us) raced across the convention floor to crowd the barriers.
Emma burst onto the stage in that outfit – a sparkly fringed cape which she took off (seductively to a wolf-whistle guitar riff) and revealed a sequined asymmetric top which looked like she was wearing a mermaid tail as a top. But in an excellent way.
She hit all the notes despite the non-stop dancing, bringing major Hayley Williams vibes to the stage and throwing out sass. We were treated to some live storytimes, hearing the backstories behind Sucks to Be You, Magnetised, and Liars.
Emma’s songs were made to be performed live and the audience brought so much energy to the room. They didn’t stop bouncing, singing, and dancing, and they brought out their phones and lit up the crowd for Magnetised, which was absolutely adorable!
There were plenty of tour jokes – the crowd chanting “Brian” for Ryan the guitarist, “Swanny” who was on the bass, “Sweet Pea” on the drums and Emma was…”Daddy’s Girl”.
Ah, memories…
What a way to shut down SitC on Saturday!
