On the surface, punny guy Evan Edinger and singer-songwriter Dodie Clark may seem like an odd pairing…
But in reality, their personalities are the perfect combination of fun and sweetness! And, conveniently for you, we here at TenEighty adore both them and their friendship. Of course, friendship is a huge part of life. Without friends to fill your life with colourful and fun experiences, it can get pretty boring. (Even when you have you cat.) There’s nothing quite like having a best friend, and we think that’s something worth celebrating.
Our latest pairing is none other than Dodie and Evan, whose strong bond we have a huge amount of love, and envy, for. Over the past few years, we’ve witnessed Dodie increasingly break into the mainstream with her music while Evan exponentially grew on YouTube and the pair have supported each other throughout. In honour of their friendship, here’s some of our favourite moments. (Six to be exact.)
1. The Dovan flat
The Dovan flat was the original #FlatGoals, and what makes any flat better? Sharing it with your best friend, of course! Dodie and Evan’s moving in together marked the golden years of Dovan, where they appeared in most of each other’s videos while also growing together as people.
2. The singing
While we’ve already referred to Evan as the comedic half of this duo, did you also know he could sing? Hey, Evan, it’s really not fair to monopolise on so many talents!
Jealousy aside, Dodie and Evan’s song The Flat’s a Mess is thoroughly charming. Everything from the lyrics to the facial expressions to the harmonising is so entrancing… Oh, how we love it!
3. Their support for each other
The best thing about a best friend – aside from the laughter and adventures – is having someone to support you through thick and thin. Dodie and Evan are the perfect example of this. While Dodie was on tour, Evan came to support her and give her a lot of love. While some friends end up separating out of the jealousy of the other’s success, these two successful YouTube stars continue to be there for each other, both in person and on social media.
4. The best Christmas present ever
Okay, so we know that when it comes to presents it’s the thought that counts, but Evan’s gift to Dodie for Christmas 2016 made our last-minute gift for our bezzie look more than a little lacklustre. (We promise we love you!)
As part of a sponsored #ad for Groupon, Evan took Dodie to the spa and for afternoon tea at a five-star restaurant in order to make up for what he dubbed as his bad past gifts. Experiences always top material goods in our book, but Evan went one step further by giving Dodie some lemongrass tea he made whilst in LA and a gorgeous candle.
5. The moving out
Moving out can be a sad experience, as well as a potentially damaging one, for a friendship, but Dodie and Evan are still as strong as ever! In this emotional video, the pair reminisce over the fun times they had in the flat, including discussing their super cool guestbook. They also combine a whole bunch of YouTube Roommate tags into this one video, which we think is pretty awesome.
Despite rumours amongst their audiences, which reached a point where Evan had to address them in a video, the pair are still super close, which is further proved by our next point…
6. The Japan trip
Where is the top destination for YouTube BFFs? Japan, of course! Dodie and Evan were accompanied by Connie Glynn, Tomek, Dodie’s brother Iain and his girlfriend Chloé for a week of fun in one of the world’s most aesthetic places, and in the process they took some seriously gorgeous photos, while leaving us with some serious life envy!

If you weren’t jealous of their friendship before, chances are you are now. The two of them are our absolute friendship goals and, if there’s one thing this article shows, it’s that they’re friendship is as strong as can be.
