Nicola Haste, one half of beauty channel Pixiwoo along with her sister Sam Chapman, has opened up about her five-year struggle with multiple sclerosis (MS) in a moving new video.
In My Secret Illness, Nic talks about how MS, a disease which breaks down the nervous system, has affected her life since her diagnosis in 2012. She discovered the disease after a friend recommended that she should get an MRI scan following some vision difficulties. Her biological father passed away earlier in 2017 after suffering from the disease.
For Nic, her MS predominantly causes symptoms such as fatigue, mood swings, numbness, difficulty speaking, and partial blindness in her eyes. Other people can also be affected with walking difficulties, muscle spasms, and pain.
Despite her struggle, Nic remains strong, saying: “I am not going to lie here crying and feeling sorry for myself, because other people have it and live with it and just get on with life. So I just get on with life.”
Nic hopes that her video will uplift others who may also have been diagnosed with MS. She speaks of the great support her husband has given her, and how through healthy living and rest she has managed to live a normal life: “I manage every day and live every day. I carry on.”
Thank you so much for all the lovely comment both on here Instagram and YouTube. I am reading them all I just can't reply to everyone. Xx
