You’ve woken up slumped over on the couch…
There’s glitter in your hair and a distant yodelling refrain playing on repeat in your head. Peeling a feather boa off your body and scrubbing the Union Jack off your cheek, the events of Saturday night slowly begin to unfurl in your mind… Ah, yes, the Eurovision Song Contest Aftermath™ is once again upon us.
Luckily for you, we here at TenEighty HQ managed to shake off our post-Eurovision hangover and put together a perfect playlist of videos to watch while you browse the best YouTuber reactions to Saturday’s festivities. We promise they’re the next best thing to a solo from Epic Sax Guy!
40 IMPRESSIONS SING HAMILTON | Jake Dudman
A remarkable collection of impressions and a Hamilton cover rolled into one video? Yep, Jake Dudman‘s sold us.
Seriously, it’s the one time you’ll listen to a Hamilton song and not feel the need to scream along, as you’ll be too busy listening to Eddie Redmayne, the Eleventh Doctor, AND the entire Simpsons cast doing so instead. However, we ARE glad he left his impression of the TenEighty office off the list, that’s for sure. Suffice to say, while our enthusiasm gifts a rather rousing version of Satisfied, our strengths lay in writing.
SPRING LOOKBOOK 2017 | saimastyleslike
Saima Chowdhury is making us green with envy this Monday morning, and it’s not because of the delicious-looking doughnuts in her latest video (although, they aren’t helping).
Not only was she serving doughnuts (and pizza), but Saima was also serving looks in her newest lookbook for spring. Mauve faux fur coat? Yes. Dusty pink hijab? Absolutely. Chic black beret? We need to sit down. Not only are the outfits amazing, but with the aesthetics created by the living and shot composition, she looks like a dreamy, unattainable muse for all classic oil paintings ever.
Saima has certainly raised the bar for all lookbooks from here on out, and we’re going to need everyone to get on that edible prop trend as well, y’know, for reasons.
My Dog Henry (full short film) | pimbolammy
We’re going to take a break from the funny for a second here and highlight exactly why Sam-E Lock‘s latest video deserves the spotlight.
My Dog Henry is a documentary film detailing the impact and passing of one of her oldest companions, a raw insight into parting with anyone who has played an integral part of one’s life and learning to cope without their presence. While looking back on something so personal, she also muses on the subjects of death and mourning, and of pets being put down, all while pulling together an emotional and personal narrative.
Thank you, Sam-E, for letting us share in a very important and intimate part of your life, and for capturing it so beautifully.
The #Branding Tag: 2017 Edition | madz0rs
It’s the first thing you do when making friends at university during your first term. No, not ask each other what you’re studying! You trade bounce rates and dream #spon deals, of course!
Queen of tag video creations and excellent hair swoops, Maddi McGowan comes to us this week with a breakthrough in self-discovery in the form of the #Branding Tag. It’s time to measure exactly how #relatable you are with some #viralcontent to rake in those #views! What, you have to make that Google AdSense somehow!
Jokes aside, Maddi’s video is five minutes of quick-witted writing and stellar delivery, and is nothing short of what we’d expect from Maddi’s channel. Do yourself a favour and give it a watch (and don’t make a drinking game out of the amount of times the word “hashtag” is said).
Being Hairy? | Lex Croucher
Tackling a rather hairy situation this week is Lex Croucher, who, in her newest video, examines the odd social norms surrounding body hair.
While opinions on body hair aren’t exactly few and far between on the internet, Lex’s take on the matter considers a few more points that some others have neglected. Not only is female hairlessness a societal standard held by men, but it’s one that has been widely internalised by women as well. Additionally, the tie to traditional femininity also plays as an entirely different issue for those who are not cisgender. But hey! We’re game for as much or as little body hair someone chooses to have. Add us to the list of supporters of your armpit endeavours, Lex!
Still need more?
We know what you’re thinking: a Weekly Round-Up without a recommended poem? But no worries, for this week Angela Innes has strung a number of words into a beautiful prose covering her experience with anxiety. Watch, love, repeat.
We’re such suckers for a good self-reflective video, and this week Ryan Denham takes the cake (specifically, he takes it to have a chat in the middle of an open field).
We know we’re not the only ones still reliving Playlist Live Orlando. The cure? Watching Evan Edinger’s travel vlogs, of course! Catch all your faves riding about in a fleet of golf carts and running amok in Universal Studios in one of our favourite episodes!
If there’s anyone who is able to segue swiftly from lesbian queer-baiting in Hollywood to YouTube-themed board games, to examining the horrific past of the state of our eyebrows, it’s comedic duo and ultimate power couple Rose Dix and Rosie Spaughton in their latest video.
