Easter is great for many reasons: holiday lie-ins, having the family all in one place and, of course, the baking!
Need to entertain the extended family or have been asked to contribute to your family’s Easter feast? We’ve got your back this year, as we’ve collected some of the best Easter baking videos around to hopefully give you some ideas that’ll leave you entering the kitchen this weekend armed with chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate. We know you’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. The only bit of advice we’ll give you is to not attempt these all in one day. Instead, savour the chocolatey goodness!
EASY EASTER BUNNY CUPCAKES | Mark Ferris
Easter is the perfect time for a little baking, so get out those cute cupcake cases, grab the sprinkles from the top cupboard, and prepare yourself for a super sweet sugar hit.
Mark Ferris might not be a natural in the kitchen, but he sure does know how to persevere. These bunny cupcakes are cute and covered in icing, and you can add coconut, popping candy, and chocolate chips to form the perfect combo. By the time it’s all finished, you’ll either want to give your creations a name or take the largest bite of cupcake you’ve ever eaten.
Watch until the end for one of YouTube’s lesser known challenges: posing for the thumbnail. Trying to squeeze himself and his beautiful creations into a tight camera angle is no easy task. Is it bad that we hoped he dropped at least one? We mean, the Easter Bunny doesn’t have a naughty or nice list, right?
Making Easter Treats with Lance! | Tom Daley
We’ve got even more baking for you next with Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black. Learn how to carve your abs with chocolate while also learning how to add a little twist to your childhood fave: chocolate nests. Grab the ingredients beforehand and host your own cookalong, or simply enjoy the view of two beautiful boys baking.
Whilst “poopy” nests might not be what your grandma had in mind when you said you’d bring the dessert to Sunday lunch, these are quick to whip up and surely contain enough sugar to prevent that afternoon nap she tries to get away with.
Tom and Lance will leave you with relationship goal envy in their non-matching aprons, magnet-covered fridge, and semi-frequent innuendos. Lance’s continual efforts to eat the Easter treats under Tom’s nose reminds us of our own cheeky attempts to lick the bowl before it makes its way into the dishwasher. Always succeeding guilt-free, of course!
How To: Easy Chocolate Cupcakes With Mark | Zoella
Zoella was in the Easter mood early this year, putting out this “How To” video in support of Red Nose Day. And yes, that is Mark again, baking up another tasty Easter treat with possibly the weirdest egg-cracking technique we’ve ever seen.
Zoe’s cupcakes look lush, and we think Mary Berry herself would be impressed with this cupcake-nest combo. Very carefully iced and with Mini Eggs purposefully placed, this is the perfect recipe for a chilled-out, I’m-in-no-hurry-and-don’t-mind-all-the-washing-up Sunday evening. You can even sit down. We’re done with baking standing up. True chefs sit down in the kitchen!
Easter Egg Surprise – This is really cool! | DaveHax
DaveHax will help you take that standard Easter egg and turn it into cheesecakey, lemon curd goodness. We didn’t know you could buy packet cheesecake before this video, but now that we do, our local supermarket had better check they have high stock levels!
This will be a great activity for you and the younger cousins, and provide fab Instagram photos post-bake. Although actually, the best part about this video is that there’s actually no baking involved! The other is that, once you’ve nailed the basic cheesecake part, you can keep on adding and trying out new flavours, so let’s hope all the aunties have their eggs already purchased. Caramel? Lemon? Coffee? We have just enough time to practise for next year.
Easter Baking – PASTEL LEMON MERINGUES | AmazingPhil
Not only are Phil Lester and Dan Howell creating the perfect spring dessert (which is meringue, in case you were unaware), they take it one step further by dressing for the occasion in a beautiful pastel ensemble. Now, let’s be honest, we never need an excuse to get our flower crowns out of the wardrobe, but is it right to watch this video without them?
Set decoration is on point – bunny stickers and fairy lights transform this previously plain kitchen into a delicate and gentle environment in which Dan and Phil’s baking skills blossom. Whether they are successful in their culinary adventure isn’t for us to judge, but the clouds look almost okay… almost.
So there you have it…
Five of the Best: Easting Baking! If there is one thing we’ve learned from this set of videos, it’s that all it takes to become a great baker is a fabulous apron. So it’s time to get our own! There’s no reason to eat those shop-bought Easter eggs when we can create our own. And who needs moderation at this time of year? Lent has been and gone. Been and gone!
